Orienteering Competion 1:59:52 [3] **** 8.52 km (14:04 / km) +391m 11:27 / km
spiked:13/17c shoes: VJ Supra 2012

LRL in Schonach. Very hard course with lots of climb.
Not really my day, neither physically (rarely felt like I'm pushing fully, but on the other hand couldn't really do more and was slowly dying on the climbs in the end) nor orienteeringwise (no real flow, too many little mistakes + unnecessary bigger one). Lets do it better next week...
Details:
1) Searched first too far down, realized it when I saw the path and had to get up again. 45s
7) Wrong routechoice, think I should have gone completely around to the west. Would have saved a little bit of climb and lots of ugliness and maybe have given me a better attackpoint to the control from below. Executed my route fine until in the circle, then was a bit too far north (from the GPS it seems the relation vegetation boundary next to the path to the stones was a bit of on the map), never saw the stones or any other stone formation because it was young trees everywhere. Only realized that I have to be wrong when I hit the path, then relocated from the big stone field farther north. 6:20 lost :(
12) Was practically next to the control but didn't see it and went farther south even if my gut and direction feeling was telling me that this is wrong. 1:30
16) Too far west. 1:10
Total mistakes: 9:45 - too much.
Would have been OK maybe without the big one. And with feeling more like pushing and really racing of course.

Running 13:49 [2] 2.13 km (6:29 / km) +2m 6:28 / km
shoes: Nike Free

Dropped my car at the mechanics for a routine oil change and ran back home. Temperature in the 30s already, so even the short run was sweaty work. Running back there in the afternoon sun will be hard work for sure...

Running 14:08 [2] 2.1 km (6:44 / km) +2m 6:42 / km
shoes: Nike Free

And back to the mechanic to pick up my car. 35 degrees and running in the sun...

Note
(rest day)

Unplanned rest day. In Tübingen for 3 days at a customer together with colleagues. Had planned to go for a run in the evening today, but was longer at the customers than expected and completely wasted from the heat when arriving back at the hotel + had still lots of mails piling there that had to be answered.
So skipped the run for more work and an not too late evening at a beer garden with the colleagues - and a long walk through the citiy.
