Note

Michael was nice enough to bring me an old pair of o-shoes in the right size for todays competition, which actually fit nearly perfect, so that was a lot better.

Orienteering Competion long 2:01:59 [3] **** 10.08 km (12:06 / km) +146m 11:17 / km
spiked:18/26c

LRL in Jebenhausen.
Mostly flat forest, but quite ugly in parts and with masses of vague vegetation.
Was quite tired from yesterday, so running was hard work and not happening as often as it should + I made lots of 1 or 2 minute mistakes, so not a very succesfull one which shows in the time. Around 12 min. mistakes (rough estimate as I'm travelling with no acces to camera or scanner for the map).

Note

Seems like I wasn't to fit and awake anymore when packing for orienteering and my business trip afterwards yesterday late evening. So this morning at the parking place when I took my running gear out of the care I unfortunately found out that I completely forgot to pack any shoes :( So I did this with the shoes I was wearing, some cheap walking shoes with zero cushioning and zero profile - fun...

Orienteering Competion 1:01:58 [3] *** 4.35 km (14:15 / km) +167m 11:57 / km
spiked:10/11c

LRL at Eningen, start nearly at the top of the Achalm, then a good bit of downhill-o and some climbs again in the middle and the end.
The walking shoes worked out better than expected, I was able to actually run a lot more than I thought, but of course was a lot more careful on the downhill part, loosing about 2min/km at least on running speed there + had 2 or 3 places where I first had to scout out where and how to get up a steep place with my shoes, so lost a bit there, too. But compared to my expectation (having to walk the course and be lucky to get everywhere at all) that was great. Shows what's possible if you just have to use what you have ;)
Orienteering was easy enough, but still managed to loose 1min or so on confusion on the third last control just because I could see the tree it was supposed to be on, but not the control behind the tree - stupid...
