Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: Blacks

Strensall warm up, yellow course bit etc etc

Orienteering race 1:06:00 [3]
32c shoes: Blacks

EBOR Strensall - orienteering felt very foreign after a layoff, and a good reminder of how much work is needed. Basics were very laboured for first half, better in second but then found some lost and upset yellow course runners and 'good samiritaned' them back to the finish. Couldn't be bothered to pick up from where I left off so offcially mp'd. Physically felt fine, though Strensall is not a favorite, and Josh had found one to many small pits for control sites to be amusing.
To top it all, left the GPS on for the following 100mile drive so heart rate data is useless.

Ride US 1:00:00 [3]

Thursday Dec 25, 2008 #

Run 1:11:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 1

A new route in Hutton Woods - its called the tour of the felling sites, and is getting longer each week. Fat burning session which seems to be working at last.
Crisp morning, and out before anyone else was out of bed.

Wednesday Dec 24, 2008 #

Run 46:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Guisborough Streets - lamp-post intervals, dodging the chavs on High Street

shoes: Pegasus Yellow

WArm up and down for Poultry Run

Run 55:50 [3]
ahr:162 max:173 shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Poutry Run - wsrm and windy. Perhaps set off too fast and died for the last half. Happy that HR kept up but really had no speed anywhere.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Final tour of Saltburn to complete the town map.

Saturday Dec 20, 2008 #

Run 51:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 1

Hutton Woods loop for the first time in daylight for some weeks. Felling and thinning have ruined even more of it. Good biking tracks have been used by 6WD extraction machines that could easily make a track anywhere. Two of the few runnable sections of beech woods have been 'improved' by thinning and the brashings now make the remainder un-runnable. Letters will be written.

Good run anyway. Good pace but things still aching for some reason.

Friday Dec 19, 2008 #

Run 29:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Roads - swooping along but many parts aching and creaking. Stressed week.

S & C 20:00 [3]

Thursday Dec 18, 2008 #

Run 35:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Early morning round Guis streets. Dark. Many aches probably due to the unexpected physical work of decorating. Almost complete though.

Wednesday Dec 17, 2008 #

S & C 40:00 [3]

Tuesday Dec 16, 2008 #

Run 45:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Lamp-post fartlek in South Manchester. Minging drizzle as only Cheshire can provide, so thick that even Garmin struggled to find satellites.

Sunday Dec 14, 2008 #

S & C 1:00:00 [3]

accumulated time for various sessions on ships, in hotels and trains. Yes, really.

Saturday Dec 13, 2008 #

Run 50:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 1

... around some German forest near Duss in about minus 5 degrees. Great to be out after some days (I quite lost count) of visiting Xmas markets, drinking , eating stodge and banter. Great weekend and certainly came back more relaxed but heavier than I went.

Tuesday Dec 9, 2008 #

Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Roads, easy, after a looong day.

S & C 20:00 [3]

Usual sets * 2

Sunday Dec 7, 2008 #

Run 2:14:00 [3]
ahr:129 max:155 shoes: Blue Swoops 1

Long plod towards Cpt Cooks and all points in between. Snow covered trampled ice underfoot, so a good core workout keeping balance.

Saturday Dec 6, 2008 #

Orienteering race 35:00 [3] 3.0 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: Blue Swoops 1

15:35 Hardwick Sprint - 20secs down on UDOC pair - mostyly lace tying. Flowed well.
Assorted control hanging, collecting, jogging around the place.

Run 28:00 [3]
ahr:141 max:165 shoes: Blue Swoops 1

Terrain loops - five off each of 2:29 or 2:30; 1 min rest. Very consistent and felt bouncy up-hill but tweaked same right ankle as last weekend so I stopped one shorter than intended.

Friday Dec 5, 2008 #

Ride US 33:00 [3]
shoes: Turbo

Middle 15 mins at quad aching pace. iPod = The Now Show

Thursday Dec 4, 2008 #

Run 44:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Roads around OK avoiding the snow.

S & C 30:00 [3]

Usual sets * 3.
I had hoped for a second run but two early mornings, lots of slow snowy driving,& hospital visiting has given me a scratchy throat so thought better of it. Perhaps I'm old and wise. Or perhaps lazy.

Tuesday Dec 2, 2008 #

Run 53:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Bousdale running down al the linear features on the extended map, early morning.

Run 1:03:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Yellow

Moors in the snow. I learned 1) not to believe the Silva battery charger when it says that the NiCd is charged and 2) you really don't need a lamp in the snow.
