Orienteering 34:40 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Red

Yoprk park race. Lovely race, more a long sprint than an urban.
Generally planned ahead well, and flowed through the detailed sections easlly. Lost time on way to 7, and out of 7 (dawdled planning ahead and lost 25 secs somehow). Chose easy routes on two of the longer legs and perhaps lost 10secs on each but no more.
Only 2 mins down on CA so fairly happy. With some more speed in the legs, I could get to enjoy this.
And I fell up a 1" step and crocked my left knee which is now swollen and hurts like hell.

Note

Somedays off, travelling and socialising. Several long walks. And also discovered that I can still punt which is a relief - its been playing on my mind these past 29 years I can tell you.

Anyway, back to some proper base physical training and technique work now. I spent some time analysing this years races, and a plan will emerge.

Morning loosener on Roads from Waterloo Hotel in , er, Waterloo.

Run 32:00 [3]

Short terrain session in Belgian forest, a beautiful open clear runnable sunlit gently contoured Belgian beech wood. I enjoyed it.

Run 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Red

Re ran most of the London City race from October 2008, plus run to and from Kings X. Took deliberately different routes to during the race. I realise now why the Barbican such a challange in the race, because its difficult even at less than full pace and when you know roughly what to expect. With a 2nd experience, its easier to understand the mapping, and also what;s also not quite possible to map on several levels.
Feeling bright but moving slowly.
Also lots of Bankers out side pubs to harry, which was nice. Bankers.
M y magnifier is crazed.

Wednesday May 5, 2010 #

Orienteering 49:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 2

Detour to a HALO Poacher event after work. Mausoleum Woods - very open, just beginning to green up, and nettles showing. Friendly welcome and a good blast - 6mins/km even when far from flat out..
Had absolutely no aim other than to enjoy it, and did. Ran straight which was not fastest. Could find the tape for control #6 in the centre of the circle, but not the kite even after a few minutes searching with Zac. Then I gave him a head start, and just managed to pip him at the end. Good fun. Someone found kite #6, be interesting to know where and how .......
Time includes Warmup.

Tuesday May 4, 2010 #

Run 36:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Red

Lunchtime run to Coningham (sp?) Hall and back, twice up the crags. Felt good but calfs sore from the hard surface by the end.

S & C 30:00 [3]

past 2 days

Monday May 3, 2010 #

Run 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 2

Looping around Hutton Woods, finishing off some map updates. Quads very sore to begin with but much better for being out. Finished off up the new 'Rhodo Climb'. Brrrrrr

I got to wondering how long it will be before debris from the current felling and thinning has decayed enough for the area to be useful again. Perhaps Acorn 2015 would be the first date?

Sunday May 2, 2010 #

Orienteering 43:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 2

BRC, chase.
Men's Premier, leg 1. Enjoyed the tour around but, as everyone else had cleared of by control #4, it was not a 'relay' experience. Shame.
More to follow when I get the map.
