S & C 30:00 [3]

Able to walk on ankle with normal gait and contemplate running in a day or two, although its still very swollen.

Wednesday Mar 30, 2011 #

Orienteering 1 [3]

Some walking around while others were sprint training. Ankle feels better than expected though still very swollen. Bruising emerging but am now more hopeful about attending sprints weekend.

Tuesday Mar 29, 2011 #

S & C 15:00 [3]

Ankle swollen and only just mobile. Xray all clear.

Monday Mar 28, 2011 #

Run 45:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Guis woods recovery run, then crocked right ankle.

Sunday Mar 27, 2011 #

Orienteering 1:01:20 [3]
shoes: XTalon212-1

Ray Demesne - Northern champs - 1-2 had a significant mapping issue, but then quite simple navigation. Has to be said that the area was pleasant but dull, often able to see the feature (and sometimes the flag) from way outside the circle. Only one minor miss near the end when could not see flag next to a very ruined/overgrown wall. Scenic day out anyway.
Impressive speed from Mr Tullie - need to think more like a sheep (or a sheep farmer) to be able to find those moorland tracks.

Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: XTalon212-1

Wu and CD

Run 25:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Grey/Red

Wu cd in newcastle

Orienteering 14:50 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Grey/Red

Leases park sprint. Smooth through the park, but may have lost 10 secs on each of two longer r/c, and 10secs in maze. Last section was so gloomy that major challenge waste see the map. Lost 30secs on penultimate control as could not see the map.

Wednesday Mar 23, 2011 #

Run 41:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Up to HC by very contrived loop. 10 hill intervals between 45 and 90 secs. Legs fine but indigestion not. That's it until weekend anyway.

Tuesday Mar 22, 2011 #

Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Steady climb up to moor edge and faster contour and descent.
Or at least that was I intended. Came across a small-ish fire in the woods and spotted a group of youths nearby. I diverted through the terrain towards them, thinking mainly of borrowing a phone to dial 999, and they scattered. They were going well for a while then some split off and the others turned up hill. That wasn't good news for the 2 kids at the back who I caught quite soon afterwards. I wish something heroic happened, but no. Eventually found someone with a phone and made the call, and heard the siren start up down in town. Continued my run, conscience clear. Descended past the fire site expecting at the very least to see a dramatic battle between Cleveland Fire Service's best and the elements, but it wasn't to be. The flames, previously 2m high, were almost gone and there was no sign of the fire fighters. They may have been called somewhere else. Who knows.

Anyway, 4 GSW, displaying sparrowhawk, two male tawnies, 2 pipistrelles in the garden and a whole new heap of frogspawn. It's spring.

Oh , and legs felt fine.

Monday Mar 21, 2011 #

Run 55:00 [3]

Home, moor edge to quarry via various bits of terrain, then down to LJS. Steady all through, feeling surprisingly OK

shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Easy but in terrain checking GUIs woods map

Friday Mar 18, 2011 #

Orienteering 30:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Grey/Red

Early morning sprint course n Norwich. Used an ollie o'brien open map. Overall it was good and certainly better than simply unning. I used the street-O variant, but would have been better with the pseud-O one.
Flowing Ok but feeling slow.

Wednesday Mar 16, 2011 #

Run 39:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Terrain Loops
WU then three times long/short
Longs in 3:55,3:58, 3:59
Shorts all in 2:29
Then 5 times punching sprints
CD
Felt good all through, but really no idea why the long loops were 20s quicker than last week.

Sunday Mar 13, 2011 #

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Another 4 or 5 hours putting out, checking, mouching around, then collecting in again. Lovely day again in Mulgrave. Ran some legs hard but always carrying something; still moving by the end though. No major bloopers and people seemed to enjoy the courses. Just as well it dried out a little in time, otherwise times would have been much longer.

Very easy night run in Hutton. Long day, slight sore throat, sore quads, old. Foundnew bike tracks, good ones.

Tuesday Mar 8, 2011 #

Note
(rest day)

Long day, early morning tomorrow, slightly sore throat, feeling yesterday's effort - a good day to do nothing. Does this make me old and wise?

Monday Mar 7, 2011 #

Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Pegasus Grey/Red

With juniors on track. WU, Drills, CD plus
11times 200m relay thing trying to keep up with Sam, more or less successfully.

Sunday Mar 6, 2011 #

Orienteering 1:14:18 [3]
shoes: XTalon212-1

HALO Sledmere - Veeerrry long orange, aka Brown.
Just concentrating on basics, which went well. One 30s miss when dragged off line by grot on the ground. Otherwise felt to be planning ahead well

It has to be said that the 'level B' designation was generous in this case and increasingly meaningless in general. No criticism of anyone but the area was not up to it. The planner did the only thing he could and gave us a very pleasant tour of the various thin strips of woodland. Not sure what could be done differently

Orienteering 25:00 [3]
shoes: XTalon212-1

WU + CD

Saturday Mar 5, 2011 #

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

Friday Mar 4, 2011 #

Run 39:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

Lunchtime run as it was the only time available : brisk up to moor behind HC, small tracks/terrain to top of belmangate, back through new felling. Hard up all the steep parts, fast down the main tracks and steady on the rest.

S & C 15:00 [3]

Thursday Mar 3, 2011 #

Run 42:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Swoops 3

EArly morning. WU / CD then 8 by 65sec hills on the horse track, then up Rhodo climb and home. Legs felt weak on last 3 intervals.

Note

2 'rest' days , one involving a good BO safety course.
Today I demonstrated that Brighton is rather far for a one day business trip. 15 hours trip for a 5 hour meeting.
What they say about Brighton isn't true. All the men I met were hetero.
And I didn't get anywhere near the venue for the British Sprints.
