Ride US 20:00 [3]
shoes: Turbo

Spin. Baby steps, still. For the first time, putting full weight in arms is starting to be bearable for short times.

Tuesday May 20, 2014 #

Note

Still feeling the jarring from running . Long walk instead and many ascents of structures today.

Ride US 20:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Turbo

After short run. Still painful to put weight on bars. Sitting up but heavier load felt ok. Will increase time if no reaction tomorrow.

Run 12:00 [3]
shoes: ProGrid5 White /orange

Easy pace . Soon felt jarring affecting shoulder. Good to have tried but will leave it 5 more days. Need a softer surface. Completed at walking pace.

Shoulder still feeling very awkward on bike. 100rpm.

Ride US 20:00 [3]

Day 25/21.
Tried another 100rpm spin just for 20 mins. Seems a whole lot more comfortable than a week ago and am able to put some weight on bars. Hopefully that is a corner turned and that tomorrow will not bring any resulting pain
Plan just to increase time for a few days, then try a run, then something more intense on bike.

Ride US 15:00 [3]
shoes: Turbo

My back reacted poorly to previous turbo session. Tried 15 minutes. Feeling rather pathetic but very sweaty as it is 95F outside and the aircon is faulty.

Note
(injured)

Appointment with Ortho Physician yesterday, 15 days from accident and 11 days from Surgery.
Basically good news. X-rays show clavicle is mending well, so I can begin to not wear sling at home and can try out driving (edit - not yet comfortable with this) . This and the ribs still hurt like hell.
I can exercise on static bike / turbo if it feels comfortable, but am not yet able to put any weight on bars (which limits anything serious).
Return Visit in 4 weeks after which I should be allowed out on the road :-)

So the events for this year need to be substantially re-organised. No Dolomites sportive nor spring events in Appalachians, but there are loads of other options.

Ideas:
US O Champs in Colorado. Loads of other sportives and rides to aim at in US.
Colorado Sportive
British Sprints and Middle Champs
Florida Autumn Event

Caad
Sitting up. First turbo session, still a long way off being able to put both hands in bars. Sweaty and good to be back doing something at least. The past 2 weeks have involved a short period of narcotic pain
relief, a lot of walking and probably grumpiness aswell ( sorry Linda).

Couple of days ago i watched the guy in apartment below ours get into his Camaro to leave for work. As he maneuvered his two prosthetic legs into the drivers seat and swung the wheelchair in behind him, I regained aa better perspective on my temporary blip.
