Recovery jog and gym, calfs a bit sore. Trying out my new trail shoes before doing a long run in them on Sunday. They are super stiff compared to Inov8's and the heel isn't locked down super well. Got much more used to them after a few km, hopefully they feel better on some trails.

Tempo session in wind. 3x10min with 2min jog recovery. Went 3:39, 3:37, 3:41min/k, found it hard to pace with the wind. All up, feeling ok, ITB slightly niggly and just don't want to get sick when I start teaching undergrads.

Reps day in the rain. 4x60sec Hills for strength, 4x400m on the track for speed. Lovelock ave wasn't quite long enough for 60sec, was a nice surprise as it means I'm going further than I have before in that time. Track was wet and windy, but still knocked them out in 70sec without any problems.

Long flat pavement bash around the waterfront path. 60min easy (4:50min/k) followed by 40min steady (4:04min/k), and a short warm down. The faster section was a little harder than anticipated, but given its been my first week that included quality sessions and I upped the mileage to 90km I'm fairly happy with it.

ITB was actually fine while running, but still keeping up the stretching and strengthening.
