Christchurch Half Marathon, 30th overall, 1.18.43 net time.
Ideal weather, 7 degrees and virtually no wind, ITB was sore warming up, but not as bad as it has been so drugs did their work. Nice and relaxed for the first 5km, ran around 3.41's, bit quicker than planned but felt good. By myself for the next 5 or 6km and cruised along nicely. Caught a guy at about 12km and we worked together into the headwind until 16km. Made a conscious effort to pick the pace up here and reeled in a few people. Realised I'd forgotten my gel and had a bit of regret when my legs felt a bit empty. Was close enough to the finish by then and was still passing people, caught the 2nd place women after chasing her for the long straight, finished it off pretty strong.
Pretty stoked with this one, especially considering the last training block. Definitely learnt the lesson about pacing from Dunedin, average pace sat at 3.42min/k from about the 4th km to the finish. 4minute PB, well under my 80min goal, even with an extra 200m on the GPS.

Shakeout before the chch half marathon tomorrow. ITB tightened up and got sore the same as on Wednesday. Just gonna hope I can run through it alright tomorrow and then take 2 weeks off.
Plan for the morning - Run the first 10km at my own pace, regardless of who's around me, aim to be sitting on 3:45's. Try to sit in with a group until the turn around at 16km and then focus on trying to pick people off all the way back.
Goal is 1:20:00, hopefully I don't go out and lay an egg like Dunedin last year.

Meant to be a 40min jog, ITB got pretty bad after about 10min, pulled the pin and jogged back. Few rest days, stretching, foam roll and Ibuprofen before the race may be the only thing I can do now.
