Taking a full week off, will then just do some casual jogging, gym work and mountain biking over Christmas-New Year.
Was going to train for the Otago 5000m Champs, but I don't think thats a good idea given that all my races in the second half of this year have suggested I need a bit of a break. I don't think any of my training blocks were too big or too instense by themselves. But I the fact that I was always pushing it and not consolidating on what I had meant that I just ran myself into the ground.
Will Get back into consistent training in January, running Tarawera 20km pretty casually and then racing a 10km and Christchurch half more seriously. Will also go to Orienteering nationals as there close to Dunners, but don't really have the motivation to do any specific training for them.

Luxmore Grunt, 4th.
Set out nice and steady, legs ok on the flat, hit Brod bay 30-40 seconds quicker than last time. Continued running with Sabrina and Ruth up the hill, was still feeling ok, but not didn't have the energy I wanted. Got to the Bluffs on the same split as last time I did it. Started struggling from here, not as bad as Mt Somers, but just didn't have the strength/energy in my legs. Hit the hut a minute slower than last time. Was in 5th place at this point, knew I wasn't going to beat my previous time as I wasn't in any shape to hit the downhill that hard. Gave it what I had and managed to get into 4th quite quickly, pushed the rest of the descent in case there was a chance I could get into 3rd. Never saw anyone and was told at Brod Bay they were quite a bit in front. Spent a minute shoveling some jet planes in and then set off to get the last 5km done without losing any places.
Held onto 4th, 5 minutes slower than 2 years ago. Think the lower mileage helped, but must just be burnt out from trying to train hard for too long. Adding another race to the list of ones I want to come back to next year.
