Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon. Given the 5k was cancelled I thought I'd try and give 1:20 a nudge. The splits were all over the place because of all the skyscrapers, super cool running through the middle of Chicago on closed streets. Was exactly on pace at the 10k mark, kept it going for a few more km, mainly because I sat in behind the second female. Wheels came off pretty quickly after that, slowed alot and battled my way through the last third to sneak under 1:24. Not surprised I was that slow, a week of travel, eating badly, drinking most nights, sleeping badly and hot/humid conditions was never the ideal conditions. Flying home tomorrow, easy week and then back into some quality.

5k was cancelled due to extreme heat. Turns out this was the coldest run I've done since getting to the states. Was overcast and mid twenties. Not very impressed with the organisers tbh probably scared of being sued or something silly like that. Half marathon still planning to go ahead tomorrow morning. Planning on just trying to run between 1.25 and 1.30 as it will be hot, early and I've been eating/sleeping/drinking pretty badly all week. Should be fun to race around the center of Chicago with 20,000 other people though.

Morning jog on the lake front before getting the bus to Chicago. Running the Rock n Roll 5km on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday. Plan is to go hard for the 5k and see what happens, then just cruise around the half. Looks like 36 degrees for both so could be just about surviving.
