Hiking 2:29:19 [2] 5.61 mi (26:37 / mi) +150m 24:35 / mi

Eagle Creek hike near Columbia Gorge in OR. We stopped at Multnomah Falls earlier in the day and it was raining, hard at times. We had thought of doing a hike near Horsetail Falls between there and Eagle Creek but it wouldn't have been fun in the pouring rain, so we stopped for coffee and lunch in Stevenson WA, across the Bridge of the Gods from Cascade Locks. By the time we got to Eagle Creek it wasn't raining as hard.

Garmin didn't do a good job of finding or staying locked in on satellites (in a canyon; didn't expect it to) and bounced around a bit. Uploaded track listed 558m of climb but we figure we may have done 150-175m. A surprising number of people out on such a rainy day, but most seemed prepared for the weather.

When we parked at the trailhead there were several cars around us with kayaks. On the way back from where we tuned around we saw maybe 8-10 guys carrying kayaks up the trail, where we assume they would put in at the lower punch bowl to head back downriver. I though it was difficult enough carrying nothing but a water bottle; narrow in places as it basically was cut into the side of the cliff.

Had dinner at Thunder Island Brewpub in Cascade Locks. Decent flight of beers. Last night's dinner was at one of Rogue Brewing's places, off Sandy Blvd. in Portland.
