Monday Jul 31 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
| Nice temperature and lower humidity this morning...unlike the next couple... | ||
Sunday Jul 30 | ||
| Running (trail) 56:38 [3] 3.83 mi (14:46 / mi) | ||
| At Hand Hollow conservation area. I'll let Glen tell me how far I went, once he checks the trails recorded on his new Garmin Forerunner 205...
Okay, I think I've got it -- 3.53, plus about 0.3 on Gale Road (in the shade only). I also did the new 0.13mi loop, but I walked it and didn't time it.
Saturday Jul 29 | ||
| Walking 34:43 [2] 2.2 mi (15:46 / mi) | ||
| Felt "cool" to start, but I was drenched (walking!) by the time I got back home. Blech.. | ||
Friday Jul 28 | ||
| Running (road) 35:56 [3] 2.9 mi (12:23 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2 | ||
| 66S, Richmond to Reed, then up to the top of the hill on Reed Rd, ~0.1mi each way. Started to shower when I was almost done; felt good! | ||
Wednesday Jul 26 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
Monday Jul 24 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
Sunday Jul 23 | ||
| Walking 15:00 [1] ** | ||
| Checking out possible start locations at Colonie Town Park for EMPO's NOD meet with Glen. He was pondering whether to even log this... But I'm not proud; I'll log just about anything that gets me out of this chair. :-) | ||
Saturday Jul 22 | ||
| Running (road) 53:12 [4] 4.2 mi (12:39 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2 | ||
| (~1.6 mi on dirt roads, the rest on paved). Rider's MIlls loop via Bachus/Pratt Rds. 73 deg. & high humidity/threat of rain showers, but no rain while I was out (drat!). | ||
Thursday Jul 20 | ||
| Walking 1:01:07 [3] 3.75 mi (16:18 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1 | ||
| I actually walked an additional quarter mile, for 4 miles total, but accidentally turned my watch off instead of hitting the lap button (still getting used to the Timex I've had for 7 months now!).
Hot (80 degrees) and sticky; drenched by the time I was done. It was cloudy when I started, and even spritzed a few drops of rain, but the sun came back out before I was done. Ugggh!
Wednesday Jul 19 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
Monday Jul 17 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
Sunday Jul 16 | ||
| Running (trail) race 42:03 [4] 3.5 mi (12:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1 | ||
| Indian Ladder Trail Run at Thacher Park (anyone heard of it? :-) ), a yearly occurrence, sponsored by the local road running club. Temp was low 90's; little breeze. We've run in most of the races for the last 10 years. Glen had a bit of an accident today and didn't finish the 15k run (see his training log for more), but I managed to push through the 3.5 mile run that starts out north of where the A-meet Day 1 start was this past spring and follows a good amount of the cliffline before turning back and crossing the entrance road & following the trail back north (little up little down, of course Results here. I placed 107 out of 128, 5th of 6 age group. | ||
Saturday Jul 15 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| 3.5 mile race tomorrow (Indian Ladder Trail Run at Thacher; and no, it doesn't go down the Indian Ladder staircase | ||
Friday Jul 14 | ||
| Running (road) warm up/down 24:14 [3] 2.0 mi (12:07 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2 | ||
| Ran to my milepoint (near the church, that I usually walk to) to find a hill in the shade to do hill intervals. Okay, so this is the first time I've done this; I don't know how far I'm supposed to go or how long to recover, so I just go up and down this one hill, and then run back home. This time counts the mile out and mile back, not the hills. | ||
| Running (road) hills 11:30 [4] 1.05 mi (10:56 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2 | ||
| Probably just over a mile total, up and down this small hill (what most of you would probably call a bump). Here are the run/recovery times:
0:58 / 1:00 (jogging back down to start point) 0:55 / 0:59 0:51 / 1:01 0:50 / 1:02 0:54 / 1:22 (I know I walked down the hill on this one) 0:45 / 1:02
Thursday Jul 13 | ||
| Walking 39:13 [3] 2.5 mi (15:41 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1 | ||
| Walked before dinner, as it was clearing up (rain off and on all day); still humid, but not so bad.
Earlier I'd spread peat moss and pine bark mulch on the rest of the area I'd weeded, and was pouring sweat within minutes.
Wednesday Jul 12 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [2] | ||
| Hot, humid, sweaty day today at The Firm. She picked a faster-than-usual set of music of the workout today, and the high humidity didn't help. But it's all good! | ||
Monday Jul 10 | ||
| Exerc. Class 55:00 [1] | ||
| In the new location (American Legion hall). Not bad, in the summertime when we can open all the windows and doors. We'll have to see about in winter... Just a little more effort to get the equipment out and put away. | ||
Sunday Jul 9 | ||
| Running (trail) 1:07:29 [3] 3.7 mi (18:14 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1 | ||
| Grafton Lakes S.P. (unmapped part south of Rt. 2) around Dunham Reservoir. Distance estimated from a poor map. Double Bit trail from canoe launch to the spillway, then out a trail/old road/driveway to Dunham Road, because it didn't look nice crossing the spillway (and dam later on). About 0.6m on the road before heading back into the woods. I couldn't find the trailhead so bushwhacked in along the reservoir, THEN climbed up to the Dunham trail which I knew was higher up the ridge. It climbed and wended through some really neat, rocky terrain before heading back downhill to the reservoir. | ||
Saturday Jul 8 | ||
| Walking 25:30 [1] 1.3 mi (19:36 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1 | ||
| Easy walk to the post office to mail a trail race entry... | ||
Friday Jul 7 | ||
| Walking 50:45 [3] 3.3 mi (15:22 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1 | ||
| 66N to Pratt Road this time; I need the hill training, but figured I'd walk up them anyway so didn't bother to dress for running (I can walk in "street clothes"!). Slightly warmer than yesterday but another glorious day. | ||
Thursday Jul 6 | ||
| Running (road) 39:39 [3] 3.3 mi (12:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2 | ||
| Rt. 66 north. Felt better running than I have in awhile; maybe it was the much-lower humidity. It almost reminded me of Wyoming weather (tho' it doesn't get THAT dry here in the east! | ||
Wednesday Jul 5 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| No exercise today, unless you consider running errands to be exercise. :-) | ||
Tuesday Jul 4 | ||
| Note | ||
| 2 hours (plus or minus) to finish weeding above the rocks! I'll post pictures someplace soon so you can see the difference. Now to get some more day lilies planted or transplanted... | ||
| Walking 40:00 [2] 2.2 mi (18:11 / mi) | ||
| Walking to and from the fireworks display in downtown Albany; distance estimated. Display was good, ending was great, but otherwise not considered the most spectacular display. | ||
Sunday Jul 2 | ||
| Orienteering 1:52:35 [4] *** 5.45 km (20:39 / km) +200m 17:27 / km | ||
| spiked:9/11c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old) | ||
| French Creek North (DVOA), temps in upper 80's. Green course. Good thing we were in the woods. I didn't really feel the heat (until afterwards) but managed to mess up a couple of controls by not verifying my attack points off trails. Time includes a stop at the car (route to #1 went right by the parking lot) to pick up my bifocals so I could read the 1:15000 map! Good course by Mark Cornish. | ||
Green - Splits | ||
Saturday Jul 1 | ||
| Walking 23:06 [2] 1.65 mi (14:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1 | ||
| To post office and back to mail a bill and a birthday card... I didn't push it too much.
Split times for yesterday's trail run were 16:58 (up to the pond, ~1.1 mi), 9:36 for the loop, and 15:07 back down to the parking lot.
