Exerc. Class 1:00:00 [3]

"Step it up" class at the Y. I must say, the Y step classes are a "step above" my regular class. I really have to pay attention to follow the new combos (that most of the other participants are familiar with). I'll still go back to my other ex. class, though, because I enjoy that trainer.

Bumper sticker seen on a car on the way home: "I love my weiner." (A woman was driving the car. I will make no other comment.)

Two dozen birds and two squirrels (one grey, one red) observed at the feeder at lunchtime.

Walking 41:02 [3] 2.6 mi (15:47 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

To 1mi point then back via Alb Tpk and Syring.

I don't usually see a lot of wildlife while walking/running (except the occasional dog or sometimes deer), but after I got back I looked out at the bird feeder and counted 2 dozen birds--chickadees, cardinals, juncos, downy woodpecker (on the suet), sparrow, purple finch, goldfinch. The mourning doves were there in similar numbers earlier this morning. I have two feeders and also spread some seed on top of the snow for the ground feeders... though I've noticed the cardinals and juncos are now comfortable going to the feeder itself even though it's not a platform (which they prefer).

Exerc. Class 1:00:00 [3]

4-4-2 class at the Y (that's a sequence of 4 min aerobics, 4 min step, and 2 [or more] min of weights). Much tougher than I'm used to as the aerobics was medium-impact (not low-) and there were more reps on the weights. I'm feeling it in the shoulders--good! Loud music.

My regular exer. class is on break this week. I do like that instructor the best.

Note

Joined the 'Y' today so I can force myself to exercise during my regular exercise-class's session breaks and on cold/windy days (or hot days in the summer). We'll see where this goes.

I'll run later today, though. It's "warm" outside! 44F--haven't seen that kind of heat since... January!

Running (paved) 44:01 [4] 3.65 mi (12:04 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

Partly sunny and 44--almost perfect! Surely nicer than it's been lately.

66 & Richmond Rd to Bashford & back. Dist. measured on my FR205.

A well-deserved rest day...

Orienteering race (Green X) 1:28:06 [5] *** 4.71 km (18:42 / km) +200m 15:26 / km
spiked:9/12c shoes: VJ Falcon - size 6

Lazy at the beginning, plus perhaps the start triangle was in the wrong place? I knew I was headed a little more SSE instead of ESE to #1, but hit ditches that I didn't expect to hit, and corrected from well to the west of my intended route. Sloppy to #2, having to relocate; and the same to #3. After that I settled down and, though not all my routes were optimal (even for me), I had no trouble finding the rest of the controls.

Oh, and those new shoes? Bad idea to wear them the first time at a race (where you can't go back and change them). :-) But you knew that. Two new blisters--ugh.
