Note

Still don't feel inclined to run; still hurts to sit/sleep on my right side due to the bruising. I should get out for a walk, at least.

Search for a running skirt/skort unsuccessful. Either they're out of my price range and I didn't even try them on (Brooks at Fleet Feet sports, $55), or they're in my price range and they don't fit (Champion at Target, $20; Target was out of any Danskins in my size, $9). I was hoping for something I could try on, $30 or less. Dick's Sporting Goods had "golf" and "tennis" skorts which looked heavy, and Nike skorts for $60.

I'm resigned to taking the photo. :-)

Walking 39:26 [2] 2.6 mi (15:10 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #1

MB loop via 66 (via post office), Alb Tpk, and Syring.

Glute bruise (from when I fell backwards onto a rock trying to reach flag on green course training control 15 last Thursday) is still sore, so I'm putting off running for at least one more day.

[Not for the squeamish: here's a pic from 2 days after I fell on the rock; here's another from 7 days later.]

Exerc. Class warm up/down 55:00 [1]

Back to exercise class. Took it easy on the weights (arms) since I slipped on the front steps, landing on my elbow, which jarred my right upper arm/shoulder area. Easy effort otherwise (no stepping).

Note

I've gone back and added hikes and notes for our days in Salt Lake City, Yellowstone and Grand Teton (July 28th-Aug 6), if anyone wants to catch up. :-) I started adding photo links but ran out of time to add more. Maybe later this week.

Orienteering race (Brown day 2) 1:08:45 [4] *** 5.14 km (13:23 / km)
spiked:12/14c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Big boom on the second control (really the first independent one since everyone ran down a trail to the same first control), wandering for an estimated 9-10 minutes in a rocky area (sound familiar?). Again, I think I must have run right by the knoll with the flag and continued down a spur to the wrong area. Then I couldn't figure out where the heck I was; nothing was matching up; I couldn't trust my compass. Finally did stumble on #2 and then continued on my way. Most of the rest of the controls were in the open and compass worked again (okay, it probably worked before -- but not my brain), though I had a bit of a bobble on one near the end, finding another first, about 1:30 error. Finished 3rd in F55 for a bronze medal...

Sharon C. had the fastest Brown course run of the day, ~47 minutes! She's just awesome...finished 3rd overall for the 2 days.

My efforts notwithstanding, it was a super course on a really nice Laramie-area map, and a great job by the US Champs committee!!! I especially like some of the names of rocks and bays (like the very very large " 'Scuse Me Rock" in the SE corner, which the blue course went near). :-)
