Note
For Christmas, we made our almost-16-year old non-orienteer nephew do a scavenger hunt for his present (XBox 360-Kinect)...
We hid flat candies (Ghirardelli peppermint bark, individually wrapped) which had a piece of paper taped to them. The papers each had a letter, which spelled the location of the present, once unscrambled. It only took him a few minutes to unscramble the 10 letters. I think he enjoyed it, much more than if he just found a box under the tree and knew what it was.
The A-meet near Pittsburgh, PA, next June is in his neck of the woods, and my brother (his father) is the only one of my siblings who doesn't orienteer. We hope to get him "hooked" as well, once we can get him to a meet!
