EMPO club champs on a new map at Woods Hollow south of Saratoga Springs, NY. 1:7500/3m and the map was only about 1 km or so square. Course by Bob L and map by Bob and Bill J.
Janet F. said that she would run the longest course which was Red at 5.7km so I did too. Knew there'd be lots of trails so I figured she had the advantage (faster runner) and she had mostly faster splits. But I managed to pull off the win with a margin of about a minute over a 30+ adventure runner and two minutes ahead of Janet. (Shows the depth of the EMPO club's members, doesn't it? Actually, they made errors in the 5-8 minute range; cleaner runs by either would have put them ahead of me. So I earned it with a clean run.)
Bob did the best he could with such a small map and I did enjoy the course, which Glen and I think is much like a blue-middle. Making sure you were on the right trail was one key skill today but nothing was too technical (I thought the leg to 11 was most "difficult.") Soft footing helped too; mostly hard packed sand trails and largely open pine woods. Temps in mid-40s and sunny at start.
EDIT: added FR track
