Orienteering race 1:33:38 [3] *** 5.92 km (15:49 / km) +69m 14:56 / km
spiked:15/15c shoes: 2017 Inov8 ArcticClaw 300

DVOA event at Quail Hill near Englishtown, NJ, mapped and set by Bob Burg at 1:5000 (2.5m contours). Temp about 40 with a breeze, and about 1-5" of snow remaining from Tuesday's snowstorm (aka Stella). Since we started later, once I'd chosen a route there were almost always footprints there so navigation was pretty easy; hills were a bit of a slog. Snow slowed me down some, but I was anticipating a time near 90 minutes without errors so I'm okay with that.

A lot of downfall in many areas made for slow going, and a few areas had abundant prickers near control points. I took a small thorn out of my knee tonight.

On the longest route choice leg, 9-10, I decided I was tired of the snowy woods and needed a break, so I took the left-hand trail-road route with an easy attack point. I could at least jog on the trail and road for the most part, which I wouldn't have done on the slightly more direct woods route.

Another new DVOA map to add to the pile(s). :-)

Yoga 50:00 [1]
slept:7.0

Shoulders again. Some different exercises from the last time we focused on shoulders.

Note

Right knee still sore from running/orienteering yesterday, and today's yoga didn't help even with two extra pads. Good thing next yoga class isn't until Friday. This isn't quite the same pain as at this time last year but remnant of my falls onto it in years past.

Yoga instructor did some shoulder adjustments on each of her class attendees (only 4 of us today) to help stretch out the muscles at the front of the shoulder. Kind of the same stretch one can get by leaning your shoulder into a wall corner (outside corner, not inside) or door frame. I should do that more often.
