Yoga 50:00 [1]

Focus: stress/breathing

Sunday Sep 16, 2018 #

Note

On my feet for 2.5 hours looking at quilts (and vendors) at the PA National Quilt Expo in Oaks PA (Mancuso show; I was here last Sept too, selling raffle tickets for my guild).

One interesting exhibit had warning signs and was titled Threads of Resistance (there was at least one nude). Interesting statement quilts.

Yoga 50:00 [1]

All-over body work
4 PM

Walking 44:43 [2] 2.2 mi (20:19 / mi) +12m 19:59 / mi

Around the community, with Glen, covering the same route I walked yesterday (38:49) and then adding one more loop afterwards to get over 2 miles. Low 70s, still a bit humid.

Walking 36:24 [2] 1.88 mi (19:20 / mi)

Around the community, before dinner.

In some of the mulch beds there were a number of small bright red-orange fungi growing, attracting flies. Another bed had a group of little toadstools. Cute.

From Water Street Park in Hellertown, exploring road and trails across the Saucon Creek. Low 70s, cloudy, and humid (I was drenched with sweat when I finished).

There's the potential for a trail W along the Black River west of Creek Rd but it looked pretty overgrown, so I didn't go there. Late winter/early spring looks like a more favorable time to try it.

Instead I continued up Creek Rd until I could cross Saucon Creek (foot traffic only there), then explored some bike trails and paths along the creek and through the Thomas Iron Site (when the creek trail petered out).

AOWN...1) sent a great blue heron up the creek when I ran along it, then startled it again further along (parts of the creek were in mist from the humidity...neat atmosphere). 2) watched butterflies on some of the plants in the Thomas Iron Site, and almost stepped on a garter snake eating an earthworm! 3) off an unused part of the old rail bed (north of where the rail trail ends) there was a partial deer skeleton complete with head with antlers, minus the lower jaw and some leg bones.

Fun outing, even if I didn't run the whole thing.

Yoga 50:00 [1]

Deanna's new Wed night yoga class, advertised as a repeat (mostly) of Monday's session for neck and shoulders.

I skipped yesterday's vinyasa because I wasn't sure how intense Mercy's class would be on shoulders (we usually do a lot of down dogs and twists), so skipped it yesterday...turns out another participant was dealing with an injury and they didn't do either.

Out W Hopewell to Chestnut vía the Curly Horse development.

Very fine drizzle for most of the first two miles, but then it stopped and got warmer as I returned (65 at start to 69F when I got back).

Saw a scarlet tanager!
