Distance mentioned by guidebooks and leaflets for this hike is 1 mile round trip from road to Canyon Rim viewpoint and back. Distance and climb are estimated since the Garmin track is just fun and shows me doing some interesting acrobatics. :-D Part of the trail *does* go under an overhanging ledge (just after the first bend) so interfered with satellites a bit.

We saw at least three bighorn sheep near the trail (and crossing it at one point), maybe five different ones. One or two had tracking collars.

Found out on the drive in that the road to Cape Royal was closed due to a washout. That had been our plan for the afternoon so we had to rethink. Maybe we need to return someday?

Butterfly and Lava Tubes Trails in Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. Upper 70s

Saw a number of butterflies, a few birds (no pics), plants and shrubs in bloom, and neat rock formations (and a lava tube). Did get a good photo of a neat lizard sunning on top of a lava rock.
