DVOA Sprints at Tamanend Park in Upper Southampton, PA. Map by Sam Kolins, courses by Lena K., 1:4000 and 2m intervals. It was 80 when we arrived and didn't get any cooler by the time we left, but there was a nice breeze in open areas of the park, and of course it was cooler in the woods.

Sprint 1 was 2.8 km. The only control I had trouble on was #4, since I was looking for an open pavilion-type structure and all I saw was a solid wall where the open structure should be. After looking here and there I finally decided to get closer and checked the description: under the canopy, NW inside corner. Oh. The ends were open but the side I first approached from wasn't.

Joey M. had caught up and passed me between 9 and 10, and punched 11 a bit ahead of me but then went down the wrong trail for a ways, and I got to 12 just ahead of her. She still got me overall by several minutes.
:-)

Sprint 2 at Tamanend was 2.6 km. I didn't really want to do two, but both Bob Fink and Rob W had gone out on both and I wanted to compare my times (and earn summer sprint points).

From 4 to 5 I took a southern route, to the right of the beeline, with wide trails much of the way. I had seen Ian W near 4 and he took a different route to 5, but as I was entering the circle from the west, I saw him come into it from the trail. Glen also took a route to the left of the beeline.

I wasn't expecting to have to do the limbo to get to #12, so I went around the downed tree branches. ;-D

Yoga 50:00 [1]

Deanna's class. More heart openers, including working up to Bow pose.

3 PM

Biking 54:40 intensity: (2:18 @0) + (21:30 @1) + (28:41 @2) + (2:11 @3) 10.23 km (5:21 / km) +65m 5:11 / km

First time on the bike this season so I took it easy, staying mostly on the rail trail at Jacobsburg SP, but venturing off to ride the easy trail on the south side of Sobers Run. Felt good. They've expanded the parking lot here which can be full on weekends, but it only had about a half dozen or fewer cars this afternoon. In the 80s but not too humid.

With Glen at Trexler Park in Allentown, after dinner at Ninja Ramen (in Village West, practically across the street). Not much water in the pond there. About 80.

In Lower Milford. Low 70s; a light breeze made it more pleasant than it might have been otherwise. Stopped now and then to take photos.

Spooked a cluster (puddle?) of tiger swallowtails...at least 6 or 7 of them...hard to count them. ;-) Saw an indigo bunting and a common yellowthroat as well...lousy phone photos of them, though.

Roads in Lower Milford. Glen dropped me at the "top" of Elm, and I walked to where he parked the car, for his run even farther south in the township (plus up and back down Janes Lane). Low 70s and partly sunny. I did not record laps; my new Garmin 255 auto recorded them. I think I figured out how to turn that off.

Saw three types of butterfly (including a tiny Eastern tailed-blue; also mourning cloak and 2 tiger swallowtails), a garter snake exploring with its tongue, several chipmunks and a squished groundhog...I think (hard to tell).
