Orienteering 1:02:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:12 / km) +350m 5:17 / km

Nice run up Watendlath fell. Pushed it a threshold pace up to the top. Pleased I ran all the way, feeling like I am getting stronger on the hills (4km in 29 mins with 340m of climb). Took it easy from the top towards Langstrath and down back to the hostel.

Ambleside Sports: Senior guides race. Quality race with a good field. Pleased with my run considering I havent ran since last friday because I was ill on saturday and have had a cold all week. Duncan had a good race to come 6th. Rob Jebb had a stormer to win, still more than a minute slower than the record.

Orienteering on Threkeld Knotts. Really enjoyed it the race and the mist made it more interesting. Duncan missed punched (idiot!). Todd turned up and beat me by 10 seconds which was frustrating.

Nice easy run around High Doat with Paul between the strength session.

Did 50 pull ups then after the run did three times:

Plank
Left plank - 30 secs
Right plank - 30 secs
20 sec rest
20 crunches.

Took along time to do the pull ups.

Orienteering 27:52 [4] 4.3 km (6:29 / km) +150m 5:31 / km

Orienteering on Boat How near Burnmoor tarn. Fast and not technical area. Treated it as a tempo run. Lost 1 min on number 11 because I was running along this track and lost concentration. This was the only control I didnt get the fastest split for. All the others I was between 10 and 32 seconds ahead of the person who got second fastest split. Pleased with the run but my right quad has been hurting after runs lately. Need to ice and stretch.

Blisco Dash fell race. Not very good on the short fell races. Tried to run all the way but about 200 metres from the end of the first steep section I started to walk. I had a good pace trotting up but then people started to come past me walking and I got distracted. I should of kept running because as soon as I started to walk I couldnt get back into running properly on the flatter sections. I reckon if I had kept on running I would of gone past on the next section. Never mind, need to practise that one. I took a few places on the decent because people got lost! Jack Wright was racing and was ahead of him until I started walking. He pushed hard past me and when it came to the runable parts I couldnt get into my running again. Good race, I hear its a championship race next year so at least I have done it.

Run with Toby on the trials in Whinlatter. Was a nice tempo pace. Felt good and enjoyed the long hill in the middle. Feeling strong going up hill at the moment.

Over two hours of putting out controls for the Parish Relays, ran a couple of legs for a non comp team and then collected some controls in afterwards. Knackered, didnt eat enough during the day I think, was on the floor at the end.

Really want to work on my running technique up hills for future fell races. Parked on the back road between Grange and Keswick. Ran up Catbells, not very far but the climb per kilometre is pretty hard. Felt strong all the way and got into to a pace and was able to run all the way, need to work on my decents though. Legs dont feel strong enough to take the impact at the moment. Pleased with my time.

Running (Saunders Day Two) 4:15:00 [3] 25.0 km (10:12 / km) +1075m 8:24 / km

Saunders Day Two. Bowfell Class with Jonny. We set off first in the chasing start with a nice comfortable 25 minute lead. Started strong and got 1 and 2 well. Then we missed 3 because we marked it wrong (lost 3 mins but frustrating because we started to get into a good flow. Number 4 was a long leg and plenty of routechoice. We lost time on this leg because of the wet routechoice. Then we had a very bad patch. We marked number 5 one kilometre out and lost alot (at least 13 minutes to Nic and Will). Then we realised our mistake and started to climb up to the control. We thought we saw Nic and Will on the other side a tarn going up to the number 5 but it wasnt in the end. I started to push up the hill but Jonny was going through a bad patch. Then we got lost in mist coming out of number 5 and ended up on the side of Red Pike, then Jonny hit the wall I think. So we stopped and he started to eat something so we could finish the race (thinking we had lost 1st place). I got the compass out and then a break in the cloud helped us fully locate ourselves. Then we headed down the side of Red Pike about 500 metres above Dorehead Screes. We both stumbled down (me more than Jonny). Then just before the last control at the top of Mosedale we saw Nic and Will coming into it about 100 metres behind us. We pushed on with a fair pace down Mosedale (2km to go), then jonny hit the wall. I took his pack for the last 1km. We walked for 20 secs to get some energy back and Nic went past us. Then Jonny looked behind him and saw that Will was still behind. Then Jonny had some sort of energy boost and we pushed on past Nic who had stopped for Will. We finished just 27 secs ahead of them over 9 hours of racing. (55km with 2500 metres of climb). Epic racing by everyone!

Running (Saunders Day one) 5:04:00 [3] 31.0 km (9:48 / km) +1450m 7:57 / km

Day One Saunders. Bowfell class with Jonny. Set off well and got into a nice pace for the whole day. We were drinking at most streams we came across keeping hydrated and reminding each other to keep eating and we also stopped each other from running too fast during the race. We both went through a rough patch when going through Wasdale valley towards the end of the day. Finished the day winning by 25 minutes over Nic and Will.
