We did four exercises in the morning/early afternoon. All the exercises on a brown only map with three or four major crags. Started with a control pick exercises, aim was to use the relief of the terrain, concentrating on the contours only rather than normal features like Paths. Then went on to a long legs exercise which was really gd, aim was to look at the bigger picture and plan ahead, knowing what spur to go along and what reentrant to go up. Then went on to long and short legs to practice both techniques. Had some lunch then went out on to another control pick exercise without using a compass, aim was to use the terrain to orientate the map, close contact with the map, was really gd.
