Running race 1:07:45 [5] 16.1 km (4:12 / km) +200m 3:58 / km

Derwent 10.

Set off with a nice pace till mile 5. The 6th mile was tough being all up hill so tried to keep it steady. Felt really good on the 7th and settle into a nice pace again and felt good on the hills and then pushed on the last mile.

Mile 1: 6:15 (3:53min/km)
Mile 2: 6:28 (4:01min/km)
Mile 3: 6:36 (4:06min/km)
Mile 4: 6:52 (4:16min/km)
Mile 5: 7:00 (4:20min/km)
Mile 6: 8:00 (4:58min/km)
Mile 7: 6:23 (3:57min/km)
Mile 8: 7:00 (4:20min/km)
Mile 9: 6:50 (4:14min/km)
Mile 10: 6:15 (3:53min/km)

Mile splits are not that consistent but then the course is hilly and changing all the time. My aim was 65 min but I'm pleased with the time considering I rarely run on the road.

Running 45:13 [4] 9.0 km (5:01 / km) +305m 4:18 / km

Fartlek session in Whinlatter. 5 mins easy (5:30-6:30min/km) then 5 mins threshold (3:30-4:30min/km). Hit these paces on most of the sections apart from on the big hill. Used the downhills to get fast leg turn over. Really enjoyed the session. Derwent 10 tomorrow, weather not looking great but will see how it goes.

Running 58:00 [4] 10.0 km (5:48 / km) +475m 4:41 / km

Run around the trails in Whinlatter. Started at the centre and made my way down to the A66, then a long climb back up to Seat How. Back down to the centre via the small trails. Really good but slightly creepy run. A mix of tracks, road and technical trails.

Note

An eventful weekend. After the fell race my car broke so had to be recovered. Then on Saturday night I started having abdominal pains so had about 4 hours sleep. Went to the hospital late yesterday and was told to take pain killers and it wasn't anything serious. Hopefully will be fully recovered by Wednesday so I can get some threshold sessions before the Derwent 10.
