Official distance 4.5km so I did 2.1 extra. A lot of this was route choice to avoid climb and slow areas. But some due to a very creative error at no. 2 which cost me 10 mins (Carol caught me here and she started 10 mins later). No 2 and 3 are close together. After a long-ish leg from 1, I found no. 3 and punched thinking it was 2 (failure to check code properly). Then navigated from "2" (i.e 3) to "3" (ie. a matching mining area with NO control) and spent 10 mins running around checking every mound of earth twice (there were lots of them) until I decided to return to the previous control and discovered the error of my ways, After this minor intellectual lapse I managed to do the rest of the course ok and amazingly came 2nd (just) ahead of Lyn Stolze.

Lovers Lane - fine day, good map, good course, bad navigation to last control - cost me 10 mins+ Easy leg but brain malfunction always finds a way! Official distance 2.9, so I did 1.7 extra.

Strong ES Easterly.
