riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:08:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:29 / km)

Stayed up last night to make gingerbread biscuits; got up this morning and iced them. Then proceeded to cook roast pork with all the trimmings for when parents and SLE came around for lunch, which was clearly a success, since they didn't leave until nearly 6pm :)

When it cooled down a little, I went for a leisurely ride. Very pleasant and peaceful at the far end of the valley but there was a real wave of warmth as soon as I came back to the suburbs. Getting hungry by the end despite having felt at post-dessert time that I'd never need to eat again!

swimming 38:00 [3] 1.0 km (38:00 / km)

Coounting down the to-do list before the 25th. We're running Belair at 7am that day due to the 40-degree forecast, which hopefully won't result in the park being closed.

orienteering (Belair) 36:00 [3]

"It's starting to look a lot like Christmas"
15 of us turned up to do a series of sprintervals set by Stefano around the tennis courts and creek; however, in between courses we had to complete a series of brainteasers...legs got a break but brain was working about as hard as at 3am on a rogaine!

6:50 then drawing the way through a couple of mazes - this took a while and not everyone realised there were 2 on the page;
5:32 then some maths puzzles, one of which I failed at despite scratching my head for 7 min (but only about 3 people got it);
6:30 then a couple of visual puzzles;
5:56 then circling all 180 bells on a sheet of mixed images;
6:23 then colouring in the Christmas koala but I took a minimalist approach and just gave him a map & control;
4:42 on very tired legs by now.

Good fun, although I kept getting confused about which course I was meant to be doing next and heading off in the direction of the wrong first control.

orienteering (Flinders Uni) 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

I missed the sprintervals a month ago, and finally found time to do them today. Obviously it helps that I know the uni fairly well, so it's good to have someone else's perspective on setting.

Was very pleased that I did this instead of succumbing to the Mars Bar which had been staring me in the face all afternoon.

running warm up/down 22:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Was dreading the uphill slog from where I'd parked on Sturt Rd to the start at the top carpark in Siberia, but then Zara popped up on her bike and kindly accompanied me up the hill :)

Coming back was much easier/shorter as the sprintervals finished near the gym, but something was getting tight in my calf so it's good that I didn't do any more running.

running 1:12:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Ran over to Westminster School to see their Christmas lights display. It was pleasantly underwhelming, and my knees got a bit sick of pavement by the return trip, but I found a truly garishly lit-and-flickering house on my way back along the train line, which made it all worthwhile :)

running 39:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Over to Mitcham and back with Meredith, at leisurely chatting pace, on a hot & sweaty evening although the westerly breeze was coming in once we turned around. Followed by Arrows meeting and consumption of takeaway Indian!

running long (Bridgewater) 2:08:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

With Zara/Callum, Steve, John N out past the waterhole on Cox Creek then up the hill and down Silver Rd to Verdun, along Taminga Grove under the freeway, up to and through Mylor CP (the YHA where I held my 21st is completely gone!) for a drink at the school in Mylor. Was lagging behind up hills - just tired & hungry I guess - and grateful when Zara split a muesli bar 5 ways between us all! Return route was via Aldgate Valley and Nation Ridge Rds, then down the 'new' Heysen trail. After a drink and a banana back at the cars I did an extra 25 min around the Deanery and Cox Creek, pretty slowly by now.
