Note

Woot - G finally got rid of the derelict old Landcruiser and somebody actually paid him $1000 for it (he paid $4K 5 years ago and I'd suggested more than once that if it wasn't fully renovated/roadworthy within a 4-year window it needed to be onsold...)

running 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

From the AIS over to and around Aranda with Blair on a clear rain-washed morning; lots of roos out and some creeks still trickling. Bright red rosellas and grevilleas. Legs appreciated the softer ground although by the end knees were getting somewhat recalcitrant. We squeezed this in with enough time for pre-conference coffee/breakfast @ Two Before Ten, which justified the early start :)

Very wet meander around Bruce Ridge singlestreams, I mean watertracks, before a day of OA conferencing. Rather weary because of late arrival last night after a 2 1/2 hour flight delay, so the persistent rain was refreshing.

Later in the day I noticed some very soggy bedraggled quidditch players and discovered that the Australian Quidditch Championships are taking place at the AIS! I wonder if this is a sport with a higher profile than orienteering - there's even a quidditch World Cup. BTW, does anyone know what the Aussie quidditch team is called?

Brownhill Creek's flowing nicely past the pool after last night's rain.

running 44:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Legs said no but brain said yes and made them run up the hill: behind the uni, singletracks around the snout of Bellevue Heights (I do so wish Sea To Summit was still on offer as an organised run) then back down before the storm front came in although it was bucketing down by the time I got to Seacliff for the hospice Christmas dinner - at which I was given a beautiful/huge bouquet of flowers as a farewell gift!

orienteering (Semaphore Park) 22:00 [3] 2.5 km (8:48 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 23

A rather warm evening for sprintervals among the housing trust units at Semaphore Park, so we didn't really sprint them, but it got a bit better when the seabreeze started to come in; would have been better still if there was a 4th interval! Manu's use of purple lines to block off some of the more obvious routes worked well.

running (Morialta) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 22

Nobody was feeling enthused, especially not the koalas slumped in the trees, so we went to the bottom of First Falls, then up past Giant's Cave. I had assumed we were going back from there so headed off downhill but didn't realise nobody else was coming that way. Oh well, it gave me time to watch the ducks enjoying themselves splashing in the creek.
