7 AM

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:09:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:32 / km)

Before a looong day on my feet in the dispensary (I count myself lucky to have finished at 6pm because the 'half-day' roster people have to go back again tomorrow after eventually leaving @3:30pm).

Friday May 18, 2018 #

7 AM

swimming 34:00 [3] 1.0 km (34:00 / km)

Knees weren't great last night, but ok in the water.

running (Belair night) 1:12:00 [3]
shoes: Asics 2000-4

Redwoods, up the singletrack, down QJD and Long Gully steps. Tonight's edition of "test the decommissioned singletrack to see whether it's a viable route choice for July 8" was not as successful as last week's! Callum did look rather perplexed when Zara & I were bashing through broom-bush well above all our heads rather than staying on-trail like his pack of humans normally does.

7 AM

swimming 33:00 [3] 1.0 km (33:00 / km)

Impressive clouds of 'steam' arising from the pool were explained by its thermometer's reading 2 degrees.

7 AM

running 38:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

This was going to be a casual jog over to Mitcham & back to stretch out knee which has been painful since Sun, but it turned into rather-more-tempo as the potentiality of being late for work became more probable.
6 PM

running hills 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Dragged myself up Montefiore Hill x 5, plus to/from, with the group.

orienteering (Gumeracha not-Goldfields) 1:55:00 [3] 11.0 km (10:27 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon bluegreen

Vincent was going to test-run the W40 course, so what else was there for me to do but try W21E? Seems I didn't run my last Aust long elite course in 2014 after all...actually there are some similarities between Warranine and Tower Hill, although this map of course has pine forest as well as native scrub. Took water and snacks with me and didn't hurry, and it was a really nice run on a lovely sunny day. Afterwards we rearranged some control sites because of an new fence which the farmer is putting in :(
5 PM

riding (Mitcham) 35:00 [3]

Making the most of the last of the sunshine. I must have been wearing my invisibility cloak - because, despite being immediately behind me in the queue at the lights, a driver still managed to turn left across/straight in front of me!
