Feeling a bit nostalgic about no properly long runs lately (at dinner last night Terry was reminiscing about its being 10 years since he inaugurated the now-defunct Sea To Summit run - and then he was also talking about how he wants to run from Gulf to Gulf!). Anyway, this wasn't a long run, but out to East Point and back with a lap of the monsoon forest was surprisingly pleasant even if I did have to wring my clothes out afterwards. I really think that the biggest problem with actually living in Darwin would be never having dry undies...

Assisted with herding a bunch of small children around the museum this morning; $16/adult for the Spiders exhibition was a ripoff given that there were only Australian spiders (I'd been hoping for the giant bird-eating kind). But turtle-feeding time was enjoyed by all.

From the hotel in Parap across to Fannie Bay, down past the museum and Mindil Beach to Myilly Pt, back up through the botanic gardens (should check out the permanent course) and Stuart Hwy, in time to 'help' drop Eleanor to childcare. Did seem ever so slightly humid, especially after last night's impressive downpour, so I was glad of the breeze off the ocean. Also doesn't seem quite normal to be 29 degrees at daybreak!

Note

Happy New Year everybody!
Flight path Adl --> Drw isn't a very popular one today; the plane's only 1/3 full!

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:02:00 [3] 19.0 km (3:16 / km)

Couple min faster than on Wed. Lots of people camped at the caravan park, I bet none of them have to go to work today. Still, I've got 6 days off after this :)

running (Bridgewater) 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Nobody wanted a long one today, and my dispensary-legs were glad of it; across through Mt George to Woodhouse, slog up Old Carey Gully Rd, back down Old Mt Barker Rd. Pleasant scenery, company and running conditions - although a bit humid, nothing like Darwin will be.

swimming 33:00 [3] 1.0 km (33:00 / km)

Grumpy and in a hurry before a full day in the dispensary. At least the water wasn't quite as warm as yesterday, when I called it quits after 200m because I just couldn't handle the claustrophobic sensation of submerging my face into soup.

running (Belair) 31:00 [3]

After a long day on my feet in the dispensary, parked on Sheoak Rd then ran up the hill to Lower Waterfall and back down via Echo Tunnel. Couldn't believe how lovely it was to be completely removed from civilisation! Saw a huge yellow-tailed black cockatoo sitting at eye level, while I was enjoying the solitude at the waterfall lookout. They fly over our place in Clarence Gardens too :)
