running 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 24

Last night's flight to Sydney ended up getting in about 90 min later than it was originally meant to (I guess at least it wasn't cancelled) and so we finally made it to the Rydges Camperdown at 11:30pm. This morning I was feeling very tired - and dessicated from plane-and-hotel-airconditioning - but the westerly wind blowing icily down Parramatta Rd straight from the mountains soon freshened me up, and from the top of Anzac Bridge I swear I could see snowclouds in the west. Explored Pyrmont wharves and came back around Glebe foreshore/Blackwattle Bay Park/Orphan School Creek. When we got out to Penrith it turned out that brother-in-law and nephew had already been up to Katoomba to make snowmen that morning!

running 35:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

It's been an overwhelming week work-wise (and also feral weather) but I finally got out for a jog this morning. Turned out adductors were still hammered from Tuesday's intervals...

The final major piece of the 2020 ARC-landowner puzzle fell into place today - and about time too, because we're making a setting trip up there next weekend...

Tuesday Aug 6 #

6 PM

running intervals (North Adelaide) 9:00 [5] 2.4 km (3:45 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

12 x 200s, with recoveries decreasing from 90 sec to 30 sec, e.g. by 5 sec each time. I'm not sold on the standing recoveries as a concept but nobody could deny that we were working hard when we weren't standing around!

running warm up/down 21:00 [3] 3.8 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

orienteering race (Mt Crawford Goldfields ) 1:19:52 [3] 8.2 km (9:44 / km) +270m 8:22 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc spikes

Quite a cold morning, only 3 degrees when driving through most of the Onkaparinga Valley and the little snowflake sign appeared on my dashboard. Still chilly when putting out the last few kiddie controls but the sun came out before we ran, although Mt Crawford maxed out at under 12 degrees today. It was a good course from Frank & I finally sneaked under 10 min km for the first time since I don't know when...I think I was the only person who did this course, which was technically OY for W21, M20, M35 but none of those were running. Was great to run around Rocky Paddock - avoiding the campers - and not have to slog up Tower Hill (the M21 course would have gone there but since Simon's overseas, those controls weren't even put out) and in fact I enjoyed it so much that I went back there to collect controls afterwards. Away from home 7am - 4pm and knee & foot were unhappy by the end but this definitely still beat being at work!
