swimming 33:00 [3] 1.0 km (33:00 / km)

No time for exercise yesterday because of preparing for and hosting Arrows' meeting & pizza night (Stefano dropped in on his way to the airport, Liv & Sarah helped me decorate the Christmas tree*, and Evalin & Angus outlined their plans for Sprint Camp) but this morning was optimal for a swim.

*G & I have placed an umbrella plant in a pot under the back verandah, and it is eminently decorate-able, as Eleanor has previously established.

Bridget performed a geographical miracle and moved Morialta to Seacliff, for 42 good reasons. There was actually the faintest of sea breezes! Afterwards we all had to go to OSA meeting, to which I'd forgotten to bring a plate (of food) for communal supper, but it didn't seem to matter. So. Much. Sugar.

running long (Bridgewater) 1:59:00 [3] 16.5 km (7:13 / km) +400m 6:26 / km
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

After a prolonged coughing fit in the night, I wasn't even sure if I'd make it to Bridgie, but dragged myself out of bed at 7 & took the dog for a blockie, then got there only a few min after 8. The group wasn't in a hurry to get going, but eventually 9 people and two dogs set off towards Mt Lofty. I started out very stiffly after yesterday but there were plenty of regrouping stops, and watermelon at the summit thanks to Sarah who had wisely left a car there in order to avoid the return journey - she wasn't the only one to do so, and I had been going to get a lift back with the Uppills, but my legs surprised me by saying that they were happy to run down and so I did, with Zara/Roo and Steve/Lexi. I think it ended up being about 66 min up and 53 min back, but I'm really not quite sure...definitely a lot slower than when we did this 8 years ago the day after my wedding; not sure if I've run it since?

Spent the afternoon at a friend's baking Christmas biscuits with her daughters. I'd promised them stained glass window biscuits (but mixed boiled lollies are hard to find these days and I ended up using fruit rock!) and making them was lots of fun, especially when we all sang along to Roxette songs - the girls are still *just* too young to be embarrassed by their parents :)

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:06:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:23 / km)

Lovely evening for a ride along the creek after being indoors all day at work (which wasn't too busy but still I was pretty stuffed by the time I came home).

orienteering (Hazelwood Park) 52:00 [3] 5.8 km (8:58 / km)
shoes: Asics Kayano 24

Made hard work of the long course - after waiting hopefully until nearly 7pm for a colleague who had said he *might* come to O - and just jogged around enjoying the Burnside scenery (but not the knees attached to me) and trying not to cough. Really don't see the point in going to the same control twice, on 3 different occasions - pivot controls need to have more of a purpose than just adding distance, when the route choice options would be better without them. I have no desire to spend all day tomorrow at work, either.

Note

RIP Marie Fredriksson. Roxette have been one of my favourite bands for the past 30 years (ever since I first heard The Look on the 1989 schools' team trip). I'm so grateful that I was actually able to see them perform live in 2015 on a perfect Swedish summer's evening in Gothenburg (conveniently timed in between O-Ringen & WMOC). As Per Gessle says, Things Will Never Be The Same.

running (Belair) 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 19

Enjoyable run with Zara on a nice cool evening - we went up through Echo Tunnel, across to the railway line, along it to Ballast Pit Track (some blackberry encounters drew blood) then back along the valley, by which time my knees were starting to comment, so I'm none too sanguine about Bridget's proposed Mt-Lofty-return from Bridgie on Sunday, but we'll see.

orienteering (Waite) 35:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Pairs course where each team member had a different course but they jointly went first to one person's first control, and then to the other person's first control, and from there to the first person's second control, and from there to the second person's second control, and so on...it actually worked quite well as a relocation/map contact exercise. I paired with Robin and jogged around as I didn't have energy for anything more (and I think tomorrow at work's going to be even busier than the last couple of days have been).
