running 33:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Galumphed around the suburbs, failing to find much in the way of Christmas lights despite it being past the nominal Pageant date, after a day which began with being half an hour late to work due to complete gridlock on Main South Rd because of the 2km long queue of traffic waiting to turn into the drive-thru COVID testing station.

Stupid karma :( I knew I shouldn't have skipped Friday night orienteering - now it's cancelled for the next few weeks. And I can't go for a swim either because pools are likewise closed. Therefore this n=1 meeting of the Purple Appreciation Society was a bit glum, but then I think so is everyone in Adelaide right now, watching their Christmas holiday plans go down the gurgler...

running (Bridgewater) 1:13:00 [3] 11.1 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Fairly directly to Mylor, with Simon,Tyson, Zara/Roo. After a big drink at the school it was decided that returning up Aldgate Valley Rd might be cooler than the Bandicoot Trail. Unfortunately my feet didn't appreciate the gradual ascent on hard bitumen and a couple of times I had to stop & take my shoes off and walk around in sock-feet while the others waited. So from the cemetery on the ridgeline above Aldgate we came back down the squelchy way we'd gone out on the Heysen Trail, and that was shadier than the long descent of Wembley Ave would have been.

Nice out early, and the jacarandas were beautiful, but I'm very tired after waking up at 5 most days this week stressing about how today's workshop will go - with 2 separate virtual platforms; one for presenters/chairs and one for "attendees" - and yet we all have to host our own presentations from our own computers...thank goodness for ASN Events' IT support!

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:09:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:32 / km)

Some more purple-appreciation, which was good for the soul after a rather trying CPG workshop which somehow ran an hour overtime due to screen-sharing glitches and people who don't time their presentations (I am so sick of always being the one who has to rush through my section because others have rambled on - a bit like the OA Conference, really) and was made more confusing by the fact that one of the platforms was scheduling on AEST (AKA Qld time 'cos they're not on daylight saving) and the other on AEDT and I myself in Adelaide am in between the two...anyway, we got there in the end. It was an experience I'm not keen to repeat but is also probably the way of COSA workshops in the immediate future.

Note

Had pre-entered and paid for O but didn't make it; always have trouble getting away from work on time on Fridays and was mentally exhausted after finally finishing my talk for tomorrow's online cancer pharmacists' workshop, plus I have a fairly low threshold for not going to park/street events anyway (apologies to Victorians who are desperate for O at this point in time).
So, junk food and watching reruns of Big Bang Theory it was - very therapeutic :)

running (Belair) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Redwoods return then lake loop with Fern & Zara/Roo in overlapping sections. Drizzling rain reminded me of NZ rogaines, but did not induce any degree of nostalgia therefor. Knees happier this week, possibly because of softer ground again, but I still think I need new shoes soon.
