Well, it's been a rather odd week in Adelaide, what with Pizzagate (to be fair, the SA Govt was right to be concerned about the current cluster but it is unfortunate that they didn't have all the information...I still want to know how the index case supposedly "caught COVID from a surface" even if that surface wasn't a pizza box).

Anyway, even more people than is par for this year have been off work sick/awaiting swab results, during the week and so I ended up in the dispensary today. Which wasn't getting my OA Conference/workshop papers written. Neither was going for a ride tonight, but it's nice to get out and breathe normally after 3 days straight of wearing disposable masks at work as is required of SA Health employees.

Lovely evening for a lap and a half of the park, admiring the wildlife and wildflowers and dodging the MTBers who hooned past me on singletrack. Wasn't sure which I'd run out of first, energy or daylight, but it turned out pretty even. Knees were fairly unhappy by the end but I told them they'll have 6 days of rest and relaxation in which to recover...

Galumphed around the suburbs, failing to find much in the way of Christmas lights despite it being past the nominal Pageant date, after a day which began with being half an hour late to work due to complete gridlock on Main South Rd because of the 2km long queue of traffic waiting to turn into the drive-thru COVID testing station.

Stupid karma :( I knew I shouldn't have skipped Friday night orienteering - now it's cancelled for the next few weeks. And I can't go for a swim either because pools are likewise closed. Therefore this n=1 meeting of the Purple Appreciation Society was a bit glum, but then I think so is everyone in Adelaide right now, watching their Christmas holiday plans go down the gurgler...

Fairly directly to Mylor, with Simon,Tyson, Zara/Roo. After a big drink at the school it was decided that returning up Aldgate Valley Rd might be cooler than the Bandicoot Trail. Unfortunately my feet didn't appreciate the gradual ascent on hard bitumen and a couple of times I had to stop & take my shoes off and walk around in sock-feet while the others waited. So from the cemetery on the ridgeline above Aldgate we came back down the squelchy way we'd gone out on the Heysen Trail, and that was shadier than the long descent of Wembley Ave would have been.
