Definitely needed more sleep but still doing much better than G who got home at nearly midnight from driving Melbourne-return for work and was out the door again by 5am...

riding (Brownhill Creek) 1:07:00 [3] 19.5 km (3:26 / km)

Got up at 5am, left home about 6, got to Roseworthy College by 7 and somehow it took me nearly 3 hours to get all 38 controls out - stands, flags, units, wooden blocks for a dozen of them (although I was able to stick one stand into a hay bale), cable ties for a couple - and open a few gates, make sure no OOB areas would entice people to enter them etc. So it's a good thing that we had decided to have starts from 10:30am to allow people to get there from the other side of town. My controller kept on getting to controls ahead of me to check them and they weren't there yet, even though he'd given me a 90 min head start...

Wallaringa's a small club, and although we had 20 members entered, 6 of them were the under-10s who would need shadowing, and another 6 were their parents who would be tag-teaming while doing their own courses, and then taking the kids around...so that didn't leave many helpers for start/finish/rego*, but thankfully sprints aren't very complicated :)

I've controlled SA Sprint Champs a couple of times before now, but never actually planned the courses myself. Was particularly pleased that absolutely no one DNFed by punching a wrong control; this is the goal to which I aspire with every event that I set. Happy with the M21 winning time as Angus did 15:13 (ok, I could have left off the control at the top of the stairs in the oval grandstand, but where's the fun in that?). I was well aware of W21 being slightly too long but the integrity of the course would have been compromised by shaving 1-200m off (I did try, but rejected the options I came up with) and it was pretty neat to have Liv & Lani equal first - also, Bridgibump made it around the whole course!

We were all packed up & ready to leave by about 1pm, so I got home eight hours after I left, and in the evening decided to go for a bike ride which my legs reported to be quite difficult even though all they'd done today was to stand around.

*the little kids helpfully wanted to collect controls at the end...3-year-old S cried when I allocated her less than her birthday number, so she was graciously permitted to collect an extra one.

running 1:02:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

From Piccadilly on a lovely evening, after spending the afternoon at an ARC meeting. Had expected legs to be hammered after an excruciating Killer Massage this morning but they were ok even on hills.

running (Belair) 57:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

Mentally dead today as it was nearly 1am last night before I had finished working out actual running distance on sprint courses (surely there's got to be an easier way than piece of string and doing the maths with north lines 120m apart; does any course planning software have a freehand drawing tool?).

Anyway, nice run with Fern & Zara/Callum although coming down the dilapidated/overgrown steps from the trainline to Long Gully was a tactical error. Afterwards I was grateful that Fern had saved me some dinner because it was 10pm by the time Tyson and I had finalised start draw and event information and uploaded them.

running (Shepherds Hill) 36:00 [3]

3-Hills loop in Sheps once I'd finished at work. The hills happened a bit on autopilot because my brain is so full of everything else - when sprint champs are over I'll be able to get my life back, I mean do all the OA stuff which is overdue...

running (Bellevue Heights) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 22

Legs felt much better than yesterday but this was all I had time for, in between real work and OSA Council meeting via Zoom - which caused a serious conflict of interest with viewing the Port Lincoln leg of the Amazing Race :(
