Orienteering race (NSW Long) 1:25:11 [4] 10.1 km (8:26 / km) +265m 7:27 / km

Gardens of Stone, north of Lithgow. Cool cloudy weather. Enjoyed a lot, the first few legs were hilly, but once they were out of the way it was just nice open spur gully legs needing compass (looked so much like some areas in Vic near Heathcote) and then a bit of low rock near the end, with shorter legs in more middle distance style. Think I was first start, saw nobody on my course except Jo at about the 2/3 mark.

Ankle was good, although started to notice it maybe around 45 mins, which was probably as I got tired and less coordinated.

Orienteering race (Sprint relay) 17:31 [5]
shoes: Gel Phoenix

Mixed relay in Lithgow, a mix of paddocks/bush fringe and buildings, at the school/TAFE on foot of slopes on S side of town. Running in mass start of first leg girls (relay went girl, boy, boy, girl for all teams) which felt a bit like mayhem for the first couple of legs but in general nav was simple and nothing was hidden/hard to interpret. I think I took a different route to most on the long leg as others talked about an unmapped fence that was a trap but I never saw one the way that I went.

A couple of control codes were swapped unfortunately. Should you punch the control, even if you know it is the wrong number? I didn't, but then Rachel pointed out that if you still punch it, then it is a record that you have been there.

Easter Day 3, Cherry Farm. Didn't run as looked rough underfoot and ankle not enthusiastic, but heard people say it was beautiful out there and maybe best map of this Easter.

Lovely arena setting with speccy sandstone cliff hilltops behind the backdrop of orchard...must be stunning view from there when the trees are in flower!

Orienteering race (Day 2) 10:00 [3]
shoes: Gel Phoenix

Easter long day, the area north of Carwell's Labyrinth but terrain quite different. Started in to steep hillsides with small rocky bits underfoot. Didn't get very far, rolled ankle on way to 4. Had a yell for a while on the ground while it hurt lots and then decided it wasn't hurting that much anymore so I got up. Didn't seem that bad but I decided that I didn't need to finish the course for any reason, so I picked up a walking stick and walked back, through the start. Which took a while actually. Quite a peaceful walk though, and nice to be in the bush watching other people run through focussed on what they're doing, while you're not.

Orienteering race (Day 1) 36:50 [4] 3.8 km (9:42 / km) +145m 8:08 / km

Easter Day 1, Carwell's Labyrinth, a private land area near Kandos. Open-ish forest with slightly gorge-y gullies with slopes of rock features & cliff lines. The bush felt a bit like ACT, but the rocks were wrong. Enjoyed the course lots, but not running aggressively at all.

Matt J found his 'Moderate' MOpenB course pretty tough and couldn't complete the rocky part in the middle of it...not surprised as some of the legs were the same as mine!

Orienteering race (Prologue) 18:27 [4] 2.4 km (7:41 / km) +90m 6:28 / km

The Common, at Rylstone. Mix of open/forest sort of area with some rock slabs. Fun little course with spectator bit in it.

Orienteering (Score event) 59:00 [3]
shoes: Gel Phoenix

60 min score at Jingili, as got there too late for the 90 min. Well set I thought, as I couldn't decide what to leave out, between the far western or eastern ones, or the ones north across the road over the overpass. Think I really should have got the ones to the north as there were 4 x 30 pointers over there, and I had to miss three of them because I left it to the end and didn't have enough time...oops. I kind of knew that it was nearly clean-up-able in 60 mins but not quite, because Lach had already done the 90 min and got them all, and was back in 61 mins.

AGM after, got a new treasurer and had so many people wanting to be on the committee that had to turn some down, which was a shame.

Cycling 58:00 [3] 29.0 km (2:00 / km)

Katherine to Tindal and back (from Zoe's). Convenient ride for early morning, starting on bike path with virtually no road crossings, then on road out to the air base, which had no cars on the way out and only three on way back. Very peaceful and had that feel of aussie-bush-with-time-standing-still-ness. Saw one wallaby and a couple of handfuls of black cockies crying their way through the tops of the trees. One of my fave nt birds.

Yay! Finally got a run in. At Katherine, with Zoe at dusk, on tracks from the end of Callistemon St, east out to the closer of the two water works hills, doing Zoe's loop. Very nice pinky sunset and lovely bush with rocks.

Running (300s) 15:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel1170 pairA

Too late back (from Wadeye) to go to dancing, so went across to track as nearby but had pretty much missed the whole session by the time I had made a phone call and got changed. Did 7 (or 8?) x 300 by myself, walk/jog recov. (1st one as warm up). Kept getting a big chest stitch each lap, think it was related to Dan's Tuesday sit ups.

All day at Finniss Reynolds Project meeting, finally finished the minutes at 9.15pm.

The fast bits of Dan's session...it was more like a strength type session any how, with bit of skipping (ropes) and pushups, situps etc to go with the running.
