shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

Beforehand (trying to calm down) and afters back to the car.

Orienteering race 1:07:50 [4] 10.1 km (6:43 / km) +180m 6:10 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

EA Champs at Thorndon and intended to run down into M21 to have a go at winning the trophy I should have won last year (but didn't due to what age I had declared on entry). Thought I could do it fine this year by recording myself as M21 (i.e. Open). No chance. Apparently you can run and win the British as an out-of-age-category runner (i.e as an M35 or M40), but not the EA! Barking nonsense. Best line was the retort that running as an M45 against M21s didn't give a fair chance to the youngsters. You couldn't invent if you tried!

It meant I went out narked and made silly errors (3-4 mins) but still wouldn't have won overall - well done to Chris Sellens.

Sometimes (actually often) our sport is petty and obsessed with pointless rules that make no sense and might actually be discriminatory.

Off-road running 36:30 [3] 5.0 mi (7:18 / mi)
slept:6.3 shoes: Asics Gel Enduro 2

Nice and easy recovery run down round XC course, to Brand for 2 laps and back... Used Mapmyrun to measure Brand mile and it came up as 0.96 mile which suggests it is 64 metres short of a mile. Will do another couple of measurements to get 'triangulation'.
