9 AM

Running 44:35 [3] 9.0 km (4:57 / km)
shoes: Asics GT1000

To Post Office then via CTs to Tesco and back (including another pitstop to pick blackberries). Felt rubbish - really drained and leg weary, possibly from the hard cycling yesterday.

8 AM

Cycling 59:35 [3] 27.7 km (2:09 / km)

To work - lovely still morning and I felt relaxed so very pleased with how easy getting under the hour felt. Cycling felt much easier this week.
4 PM

Cycling tempo 1:00:07 [4] 27.7 km (2:10 / km)

Increased the effort from the morning (and it was pretty warm too - 25C) but didn't quite get under 60 as the breeze was strong enough to create some speed-affecting head and crosswinds for pretty much the whole route. Also felt tired from the morning.

5 PM

Running 1:05:07 [3] 13.5 km (4:49 / km)
shoes: Asics GT1000

A 'get out and see how I feel run'... the evening was so lovely and I felt good (inside, but not legs which are sore from Sunday) so did North End, Burwell and back via Heath Rd.

Monday Aug 15, 2016 #

8 AM

Running 28:20 [3] 6.0 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Asics DS Trainer 19

Easy run via bottlebank then Tesco loop - felt tired and a little leg sore, but otherwise fine. Followed the run with some 'strength' work.

Event: JK 2017

10 AM

Running warm up/down 16:30 [2] 3.0 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics GT1000

Before and after the Lincoln race.

Orienteering race 47:34 [5] *** 7.1 km (6:42 / km) +100m 6:16 / km
spiked:16/20c

Lincoln City Race - and probably my worst Urban race! After the excitement of Wales, I got brought back to earth with a bump and showed the dangers of complacency and lack of specific preparation (including armchair map reading). Was running well/hard but normally reliable urban O-ing let me down. Increasingly costly errors - at 4 (went up the wrong street and dibbed another control first - mercifully realising my error before I left the area (30 secs), at 8 where I simply lost track of the roads and went down a parallel street (naturally nothing making sense on the map - relocated and had to circle the area and come in from the opposite end than planned to - 1 min) and finally and most costly, at 19 (in the tricky remains south of the Cathedral - totally misread the map and didn't think logically, started looking anywhere and even going into the remains and cavern part - 2 mins). Oh well. Better planning and prep next time!
