Orienteering race 1:05:33 [3] *** 9.0 km (7:17 / km)
spiked:19/25c (injured)

EBOR event in the newly mapped Skipwith Common.

Really good event and i enjoyed it loads. Because it was quite a longish course i thought i would pace myself and this worked really well. I only got tired about a km from the end ie when i made all my mistakes! i will definately pace myself more in longer races next season because i usually start out too fast and just can't cope with he distance.

Took one bad route choice an faffed about at some marshes because i didn't want to end up in up to my waist...which i did anyway! so was a waste of time really and should just have got on with it.

Really pleased with my compass work. Before summer it would have been the type of area i would have done rubbish in, but i've finally got compass sussed now thanks to my transaction from base plate to thumb.whoo!

Although on a bad note my foot has swolen up again and it makes a horrible grinding sound when i move it. nasty! Definately stopping running until it's gone. Stupid rock on Ilkley moor. Sat here with ice on.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3] **

Yorkshire Squad training at Esholt woods (AIRE)

Not really sure how far I ran. It was quite a hilly area, good for selection races next year! The navigation was quite easy in most places but there were sections of rocky areas that were a bit more complex and because of the hills it was good for route choice.

Did a map memory course which was good to help me stop wasting time by constantly looking at my map. Some of the rocks were a bit dodgely mapped though, with boulders being marked as crags and most being under moss and bracken.
Then I did a control pick and used it for practising my compass work.

Ran a route choice course with Josh and Ben, where we ran the routes we would in a race and then talked about what worked well and why. Spent the first part being shouted at by Josh for not running fast enough and for walking up an insanely steep hill. As if anyone would run up it! So i got to have a head start after that and Josh fell down a hill so i won the leg :) ha serves him right. Was quite interesting though seeing the different ways we would find a control. I learnt that sometimes straight is the best route and to just run harder i guess. "Boy orienteering" as we learnt at uppsala!

Then got to do a star relay :) Was in a team with Jess and Joe and had the very cool rainbow bumblebee. I think we came 3rd, but was good to have some pressure in a fast paced situations.

Running warm up/down 45:00 [2]

Jogged to the football pitches from college. Dynamic stretches up the pitch. Jogged back a different way but a bit slower because i was exhausted and it was really muddy and slippy. Did lots of stretching to cool down

Running 17:00 [5]

Did the pyramid intervals we learnt on the Start Weekend. Forgot my watch though so i had to just run all out but i don't think i slowed down.

Realised that even when it's really painful to run i have energy to do it. So now when i'm on a course and i want to stop and walk i will think of the intervals and know that i can carry on running.

Running long 56:00 [2] 9.5 km (5:54 / km)

Run with Selby striders. Ran with the slower group and just took it easy. Good job this is my easy week of training i feel so lazy! Struggled a bit. At least my muscles aren't sore anymore and my stomach ache has gone so that is all good :) I'll have to try and fit in some training at college tomorrow.

Note
(rest day)

Iced foot and was feeling a bit lazy. Didn't sleep last night from stomach ache. Why is everything that could be wrong with someone happening to me!?

Running 55:00 [3] 10.5 km (5:14 / km)

Run with the Selby Striders.

I am sick of being injured :(
i have now apparently done something to my foot. It's bruised and swolen and i have no idea what i did to it. I iced it after the run but it still hurts. will take tomorrow off and then see about getting it checked at the doctors.
