Well another year done... Where to start?! It's been a huge battle to even get myself to the woc start line this year so that in itself felt like a huge achievement before today even got going. My body is finally cooperating & my confidence is coming back.
Today's qualification race was the best I have ever done - couldn't have asked for more from myself :)
I pushed to my limit in the final & I tipped over. It's a fine line. I felt great but I'm not technically solid enough to push myself into the red yet. I still can't quite believe I was in 5th place at the arena passage. Gutting, probably started too fast, but also really exciting.
Last year I was ecstatic with 22nd place & this year I'm completely gutted & that self belief in what I'm capable of doing is the biggest thing I've gained from today. There were a lot of positives & I felt like I belonged in that environment for the first time ever, so it's hard to be really disappointed.
Now I really really need a break from racing. Planning to take some weeks to eat, catch up with friends & give myself some down time to decide what comes next :-)

Best ever qualification race - confident, controlled, orienteered pretty much perfectly. Really satisfied.

Almost. Started so well. No.8 didn't register & I had to go back to re-punch ~10sec. Got flustered & started running too fast. Didn't look at the way into no.10. Got stuck above it - mapped as a slope but it was a massive vertical drop. Couldn't understand why I couldn't run down it & couldn't see the control from above. Massive panic. Loads of people sat on the fence I needed to cross. Eventually got it but I lost ~30sec & made another error in the gardens straight afterwards ~15sec. Got it back together & finished well but the damage was done. Loads of good stuff but it could have been awesome.
