Suilven circular. In from Inverkirkaig. Path is good along to the falls (4km) and then gradually disappears into ever more frequent bogs over the next few kms. Managed to hold a relaxed but steady pace and felt like progress was good towards the foot of the mountain. Was dry overhead when I set off, but soon had the waterproof jacket and gloves on, and by the time I started on the main climb the (not very) waterproof trousers went over the top too. The path up from the south is pretty eroded but not as bad as I feared it might be and I was in no rush in wet slippy conditions. It would have been rude not to visit the main top, though I was feeling pretty chilly by this stage and there were no views to be had! Took it steady off the north side too, then gradually warmed up as the path improved and I was off the main hill. Typically it brightened up sometime around now, but hey-ho you can’t win em all! Didn’t feel too bad running out the track to Glencanisp lodge, not breaking any records, but trying to hold some kind of smooth form. Then climbed back over to the river Inver to avoid the tarmac trudge, even if it’s a bit slower. Left knee felt fine throughout, though there was a slight niggle in the right one towards the end!
Happy with this outing. My mojo had gone awol first thing so it was good just to get out and do it, and I would have properly enjoyed it had the weather gods been a bit kinder! 5:16 total time.
