X-country skiing 2:30:00 [3] 19.7 km (7:37 / km) +150m 7:20 / km

From Linn of Dee out past White Bridge and on up the Geldie Burn. Back the same way. A bit thin - had to keep a look out for stones peeking through, but great skiing otherwise. Tempting to keep going and make a surprise visit to HQ, but wasn't kitted out for it and suspect the next section would have been a bit iffy, beyond the end of the vehicle track. Maybe next time...

Long Birse / Glen Cat run. First half with E. Up the big Birse track, over to Glencat, up the other side to high point, then along to Lamahip. E headed down to GC to meet J from there, while I retraced my steps to the old kirk road, then up onto Brackenstake and Carnferg. Back down by single track through Balfour. Lovely cold crisp morning. Nice run and good company for first half.

First couple of attempts to get out running today got aborted for various reasons. 3rd time lucky was a headtorch run back from Aboyne along the DW. Nice evening and felt better for it.

On Braemar golf course late afternoon. A bit thin, but slidey enough. Nice watching the last of the sun on the tops, then some good sky colours.

Jog before start at Balmedie

Orienteering race 46:00 [4] 5.8 km (7:56 / km) +50m 7:36 / km

DNC #12 Balmedie. Finally a night race with no major mistakes! New magnifier certainly helped with reading the map detail. Some smaller errors mostly caused by lack of focus on the ground as I was distracted by compass / map placement etc.
Need to adjust compass technique a bit and might try a thumb compass again. Also need to get used to interpreting the scale when I'm using the magnifier.

10' w-u to foot of the hill then jog back from top of Meikle Tap

Running hills 30:00 [5] 3.7 km (8:06 / km) +200m 6:23 / km

Hill reps up Meikle Tap. 10 x 2' + 1'. Really enjoyed this session. Ran the first one too hard, then the 5th one too easy, but got it about right in-between. Actually felt like I could have done a couple more which is a good sign.

Aboyne castle grounds, classic practice. 5 and a bit out and back loops. Got a bit tedious but good otherwise. Mix of DS, DP and a bit of KDP too. Shoulders tired by the end - need to try and improve their endurance capacity.
