Wind looked like it would thwart plans for the high ground but decided to head in to Dubh Loch and then take it from there. Rivers v full too and doubted that I’d get across the Allt a DL to head out towards Cairn Bannoch or Broad Cairn. Felt pretty sluggish up to the loch and hard work into the wind. Checked out the loch outlet (crazy wild) and then inlet and decided the latter was crossable. Turned out to be thigh deep, but having managed to negotiate it decided I might as well keep going up, with the knowledge that I could get the wind behind me on high ground if I turned back towards BC. So that was what I ended up doing - bitter wind, rain and hail but only my feet got really cold and all was fine as long as I kept moving. Couple of hare on the tops looking very white now. Didn’t hang about on top of BC but soon got down to the stables for a sheltered bun stop. Then back down the streak of lightning and round the head of the loch to the bike.
Had originally planned a raid into Angus (shhh), but pretty happy to get round this loop in the circumstances. Certainly blew away any residual cobwebs.
