Sunday Feb 21 #

10 AM

Road cycling 3:30:00 [3] 72.67 km (2:53 / km) +772m 2:45 / km
ahr:119 max:156

Spin out on the road bike. Ballater, Logie, Tillypronie, Tarland, Queens View and back via Bogentassie to Lumpy. Cruising. Nice sunny mild day, but a bit wet from the bottom up with flooding on a few sections.

3 PM

Running 45:00 [3] 6.99 km (6:26 / km) +146m 5:50 / km
ahr:145 max:161

Wee run in the rain with KH from Aboyne out to St Machars cross (CP86 #31) then back over Balnagowan. Chatting rather than checking where we were going, so not the most standard route!
Good to have some company on a miz day and helped perk me up.

Friday Feb 19 #

1 PM

Running 53:00 [3] 6.4 km (8:17 / km) +258m 6:53 / km
ahr:133 max:178

Starting to get cabin fever so a mini adventure was called for. Headed up to the quarries at Cambus and found myself with a nice slope of mini rock slabs which were more snow free than other bits, so had a fun wee scramble up to join the bike track. Back down by the track (where I could find it) then out towards Tullich, over to the DW, along to the monument (CP66 #30) and back to Cambus. Good fun with a bit of everything thrown in there. Feeling tired tho - this running lark is obvs too hard work!

Thursday Feb 18 #

11 AM

Running 1:45:00 [3] 15.54 km (6:45 / km) +184m 6:23 / km
ahr:156 max:184

Staying low still to try and avoid the worst of the ice, slush and snow. Mostly successfully. River to Bellwood, out to DW, loop round Aboyne Loch to get a bit of extra distance, then back by DW. Felt a bit of a slog. Plenty of water around.

Wednesday Feb 17 #

12 PM

Running hills 1:10:00 [4] 8.04 km (8:43 / km) +461m 6:46 / km
ahr:122 max:156

Morning wander revealed south facing forest areas to be largely snow free, so that seemed like the best spot to try and do some hill efforts. Loop round by IBs to warm up then 4 x reps on slightly different lines from the bridge to top forest wall, with jog back recovery. Slow going in terrain but preferable to snow and ice. Each rep 8-9’ up.

Tuesday Feb 16 #

5 PM

Running 55:00 [3] 8.03 km (6:51 / km) +135m 6:19 / km
ahr:150 max:175

Feeling rubbish in the morning - really no idea why but canned plans for a hill session and went for a lunchtime wander instead. Had perked up by late afternoon though, so decided to try a short run and once I got out it felt quite fine. Loop down to the river bank again, except that there wasn’t much of it left with the rising flow. Not much snow left down there now. Heavy going where it is still lying. Nice sunset.
Back still not appreciating running.

Note

Need a bit of a focus to work towards. Potential targets for later in the year seem too uncertain and distant. Think I need to get plotting for something shorter term....a punning clan required
12 PM

Running 44:00 [3] 6.16 km (7:09 / km) +114m 6:32 / km
ahr:134 max:159

Rapidly turning slushy. Down the DW and onto the river bank. Snow already disappearing in areas down there. Took time to watch the river and soak up some warmth from the sun
