Wanderings over and about Craiglash and Arntilly Crag with JS. Sign at the entrance to the caper enclosure about ‘birds’ so we kept high over the top of Craiglash but then needed to drop to the main path to get down towards the northern bit of plantation. And sure enough there we found a big C - first time I’ve seen one up there. Turned round and dropped through terrain into the forest, then climbed back over the top of AC. Still feeling wheezy so kept the effort low and not feeling any the worse after. Turned out a lovely evening after earlier snow showers.

Note

Visited JC to see whether he can throw any light on my long-term foot problem / toe numbness etc. He took one look at my feet and came up with a simple theory which seems quite plausible and def worth working on. Worth investing a bit of time and effort at this stage in the year with a view to longer term projects….

DR back at GT :-) Went along early for an extended w-u. Fairly rapidly decided I wasn’t ready for any hill reps yet. Jogged out to bottom of Canada Rd hill with the group, then headed off on a steady loop with EF (also Covid recovering). Good natter all the way round, walking most of the climb and jogging the rest, but felt wheezy even with that. Darn chilly again and damp too :-(

Chill spin round S Deeside loop a-c. Felt tired last night, so keeping it flat and low effort recovery today.

New take on Culblean from Redburn. Had set out to do a long Morven and picked a line through the Auchnerran land leading on up to join the normal Morven race return. But then started feeling pretty weary on the climb up the valley and realised I was going to take a good bit longer than planned, so changed tack and headed instead for Culblean from the big track junction. Back off the top by the normal route. Good to be out. Peewits and skylarks, and put up a still-white hare on the hill - surprised to see it there as there’s not much natural wildlife left in those killing fields. Proud of myself for backing off and being sensible when it started to feel hard.

Coyles of Muick on a beautiful sunny spring day :-) Up from LU and back down through AC. Corrie has had quite an impact low down so there was a fair bit of tree hopping initially, but it was fine higher up, then a similar story on the return. Took it easy but felt ok and breathing was fine. Met AB on the summit and sat chatting in the sun for 10’ - very civilised! Lovely run :-))

Round the fields and woods. Minor breathing issues but better than expected. Slight awareness of groin niggle from last day of skiing, but at least it’s had a full week to settle!

Note

Tested +ve on return from Norway (along with DB), tho in hindsight had symptoms for the last couple of days we were there. Almost certainly picked up at the hotel in Bygdin from the Danish tour bus group. Bit of an unwanted souvenir, but still feeling like it was worth it for the holiday!

Physically, symptoms have been minor - stuffed head, minor cough and some wheeziness - but brain fugg has been something else - lack of ability to focus or concentrate, forgetfulness and feeling emotional. Seem to be emerging from that now and actually got my head round one or two useful tasks this morning.

Recovery has involved plenty of isolated fresh air and sun. Hope to gently restart training in the next day or two.
