Running 4:45:00 [3] 26.61 km (10:43 / km) +1206m 8:44 / km

Suilven circular. In from Inverkirkaig. Path is good along to the falls (4km) and then gradually disappears into ever more frequent bogs over the next few kms. Managed to hold a relaxed but steady pace and felt like progress was good towards the foot of the mountain. Was dry overhead when I set off, but soon had the waterproof jacket and gloves on, and by the time I started on the main climb the (not very) waterproof trousers went over the top too. The path up from the south is pretty eroded but not as bad as I feared it might be and I was in no rush in wet slippy conditions. It would have been rude not to visit the main top, though I was feeling pretty chilly by this stage and there were no views to be had! Took it steady off the north side too, then gradually warmed up as the path improved and I was off the main hill. Typically it brightened up sometime around now, but hey-ho you can’t win em all! Didn’t feel too bad running out the track to Glencanisp lodge, not breaking any records, but trying to hold some kind of smooth form. Then climbed back over to the river Inver to avoid the tarmac trudge, even if it’s a bit slower. Left knee felt fine throughout, though there was a slight niggle in the right one towards the end!
Happy with this outing. My mojo had gone awol first thing so it was good just to get out and do it, and I would have properly enjoyed it had the weather gods been a bit kinder! 5:16 total time.

Note
(rest day)

Botanising wanders up towards the bone caves & out the back of the house. Caught by various hail storms…..! Mountain avens, globe flower, fragrant orchid & plenty more. Love a good time-unconstrained potter :-)

Beinn an Eoin & Sgorr Tuath loop with J. Enjoyed these wee hills the first time I explored them, so decided they were worthy of a revisit. It's not very long, but there's no real easy running on any of it.... good rough stuff training. The sunny spells never really came to anything and it felt pretty chilly in the wind, but we only got caught by one proper shower, albeit it briefly turned to hail! Enough for today and an easy day planned for tmrw too.

Anagach on the way north. 2km w-u, then 3x10’ efforts with 2’ between each, ~1.5km jog back. Legs felt ok for some flattish work; they would have struggled on hills for sure. Anagach as gorgeous as ever. Pleased with this :-)

Running 30:00 [2] 3.97 km (7:33 / km) +120m 6:34 / km

Jog / walk up to the lochan at Baddidaroch for a swim, then back after.

OWS 5:00 [1]

Cold! And choppy! 5’ definitely enough but felt great after :-)

Chill Carnferg catch-up with SS & N. In from FoB up the Fungle, then back via Glen Cat. Easy-paced, walking lots of the climb. Knee no worse and not really bothering me (taped up). Cold in the wind, but we successfully avoided the heavy squalls of rain that were sweeping in from the west.

Steady loop of Cambus. Feeling alive again - what a difference a day can make! Leg loosener for evening hill reps.
Left knee niggling a bit. Ok while running but sore afterwards, especially after sitting down for a while. Lots more stretching needed!

DR @ GT. Hill session up towards Baudy Meg. 5x3’ + 90”, then 5x1’ with easy jog back recovery (90” ish?). Felt like I was running ok for most of the session, but really dieing on the steeper sections of the long reps; I guess there’s still heaviness in the climbing muscles from the w/e. Pleased to tick this one off :-)
Winter seems to be coming back again….

Jog down to the river for a dip, then walk back up after. Energy reserves still low, not helped by a poor night’s sleep.
