Warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: VJ's 09/10

Tour middle race at Moor of Alvie....running to the start to pre-run the course / by controller!

Orienteering 5:00 [3] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: VJ's 09/10

Doing the warm up controls.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)
shoes: VJ's 09/10

Running the course. It was a really nice area, and a good course which kept me thinking. Sadly, my run was spoilt by having to stop to find a wrongly hung control about 2 thirds of the way around.....fortunately, I managed to find it, and hang it in the right place with just a couple of minutes to spare before the first athlete passed!!

Steady Run 55:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Slicks

A really nice run with the Sidmouth Running Club from Otterton. We went through the fields to the coast and then did the most fantastic bit of coastal running around the Budleigh - it was a really warm clear evening , and the views in each direction could only be described as stunning. From Budleigh, we went back up the river to Otterton - a dramatic change in scenery, which helped change a good run into an awesome run. Afterwards, we all agreed that, without doubt, there is nowhere in the world better then East Devon for running...it is awesome!! :-)

Hashing tempo 55:00 [4] 9.0 km (6:07 / km)

A good City of Exeter Hash from Venmore Farm near Woodbury. The whole trail was through fields with really long (at least knee high) grass, so it was hard work running, but it was good training. It was another very hot summer day, so I was pleased to feel good after yesterday - after the first 5 minutes of warming up, I didn't really notice yesterday at all. Another good weekends running!
12 PM

Stretching/Core Stability 10:00 [1]

A good stretch with EJ, FF and Boots.

The Blackdown Beauty. A social run organised by Honiton Running Club. It starts and finishes at the Holman Clavel pub on the Blackdown Hills, and is a self navigation off-road run where the trail visits 4 pubs and a tea house - so its effectively a running pub crawl!!! There is no timing or anything official, so its totally relaxed and sociable, and everyone stops for a while at each pub. I ran the first two legs with FF from the hash. After the second pub, he ran with PP and I ran with Twin Peaks and a couple of other randoms who couldn't read maps! We stopped only briefly at the third pub because we were desperate to get to Stapley for our cream tea at the tea house there.....it was awesome.....but made it hard running to the next pub at Churchinford!! From there I ran with EJ to the end (and, of course, another pub coz thats where we started!).

It was a really nice course, with some stunning views on a fantastic summer day. A great way to spend a few hours!! :-)
4 PM

Stretching/Core Stability 15:00 [1]

City of Exeter hash from Danes Wood, near Killerton. The trail went around Danes Wood for a bit before going out into the fields near the M5, and then over into Killerton Park. Cracking views from the hill in the park! It was a good run on another hot day. I enjoyed the running, and felt as though I was going well after yesterdays efforts.

An epic Devon A2B hash from Dittisham, near Dartmouth. It was a really hot summer day (about 25 degrees c) so, fortunately, the hares decided not to go for the record longest hash! At the start, they said it was a 'short' one......but it was plenty long enough given the amount of climb involved.

The trail headed straight to the beach from the start and then along the beach for a bit before heading inland. The first re-group was at Capton, where we had to wait for ages for some folk who'd got lost. Then it was on-on through some fields and down a massive hill to the next re-group, which was by a really nice creek on the side of the Dart Estuary. After that, the trail went through some really nice woodland on the side of the river, and we eventually ended up on top of a massive hill for the final re-group - the views were awesome! Then it was a quick sprint to point B....which turned out to be only about 500 metres from point and the other pub in the village!!

A fun way to spend a few hours!!
