Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] 20.0 km (9:00 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 2014

A great days training. Started off by checking some of the most vulnerable controls, which went out late last night. Then ran the exercises with the lads doing various bits of shadowing. I started off with some of the 'virgins' to sand dunes for the first couple of courses, before moving to work with the more experienced folk. Everyone was doing well, and it was a great days training, in glorious warm weather!

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3] 11.0 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 2014

Hanging controls for tomorrows TBGS training at Hayle. World Class terrain; some of the most challenging hanging there is to be done...especially the last few controls when it was almost dark!!

7 PM

Hashing tempo 55:00 [4] 11.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2015

A good hash from the Bowd Inn, laid by Pubes and family. We went straight into Harpford Woods and stayed there, with plenty of looping around, the usual collection to steep Harpford hills and some nice bits of terrain running. Good fun!

Steady Run 1:00:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:27 / km)

Bit of a random running club session - basically a steady run with some hill efforts thrown in.

Hashing tempo 1:09:00 [4] 14.0 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

A good City of Exeter hash from Haldon Obelisk. There were loads of fish hooks where, coz I was the fastest there by quite a bit, I sometimes had to go back the best part of a kilometre! (hence the distance).

Really nice warm, almost summer like, day for it, and fantastic views too!

Hashing tempo 50:00 [4] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

A good hash from the Talaton, laid by Porky and Freewheeler. Some good hills and periods of fast running as well as some tough areas of cow shit or newly planted fields! There were less people there than last week; apparently, something to do with a queue at one of the immigration points to cross the A30 into Talaton and 'The North'!
8 PM

Warm up/down warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

Warm down jog with Jonty.

shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

Running club - warm up run for an interval session on Salcombe Hill.

Intervals intervals 15:00 [4] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

Two sets of 500ish metres on the gravel path on top of Salcombe Hill. Largely flat, but with a slight climb on each effort and a period of cross wind as well. Fun, and so much better than doing it on road or, even worse, around a track!!

Steady Run 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics FujiAttack4

Cruise back to the Sailing Club.

Warm up/down warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Warm up stuff for a QO event at Triscombe on the Quantock Hills.

Orienteering race 43:28 [5] *** 5.9 km (7:22 / km) +320m 5:48 / km
spiked:18/20c shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Really nice day for a run on the Quantocks, and enjoyed this on the whole. As always, it had the usual collection of "QO-isms" on the course!!; in this case, it was two controls where only some of the stuff on the ground was actually mapped!...thus, making the final approach to the control rather a lottery! Think I lost about 90 seconds in total to this. Oh well, it was the same for everyone, and it was a nice day!

Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.3 km (7:42 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Short warm down jog to work out what the hell was going on at number 1 (one of the "QO-isms"!!)

7 PM

Hashing tempo 59:00 [4] 11.0 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Saucony Excersion 2015

A good hash from Budleigh Stables, laid by Mad Max and Laidback. There was plenty of twisting around, and it soon turned into one of those trails where you ran a reasonable distance without actually going very far from the car! Good fun!

Brown course; really enjoyed this. The new mapped helped make it much more enjoyable than the previous event there. Flowed well through all the controls, with no errors of any note.

Really nice warm summery evening for it - great views along the coast and of the loads of ships out to sea!

Warm up/down warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Warming up as best I could before the relay (the assembly area wasn't exactly inductive to a good warm up!).

Orienteering race 25:27 [5] *** 4.3 km (5:55 / km) +150m 5:02 / km
spiked:12/12c shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

As is often the case, I had a good relay run. I was on last leg and my team, another English team and two Porridge Gobbler Teams went out pretty much together in the lead pack. One team got away a bit, but the rest of us where fairly close until I got 'done' by a gaffle which took me to the top of a massive hill that everyone else went around!.....managed to pull partially back into the pack, and held off one of the Scottish Teams.

England comfortably won the relay day and, therefore, won overall! A good weekends work!

Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Warm down jog down the hill to download, followed by a walk back up the hill to assembly!

10 AM

Warm up/down warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Jog to the start and some other warm up stuff for the Home International Long Race at Llynnoedd Teifi.

Orienteering race 1:09:58 [5] *** 10.0 km (7:00 / km) +280m 6:08 / km
spiked:20/21c shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

A good solid run; only time loss was on a control which was somewhat hidden and, thus, totally unfair. But, it seemed to cause most people problems as a result - so not a major drama; more irritation value really.

England finished the day just ahead of Scotland overall - with the English and Scottish guys drawing on, amusingly, 69 points. All to play for in the relays!

Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Mudclaw 2015/16

Short warm down jog.

8 PM

Warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Saucony Excersion 2015

Social warm down jog with Harry, Snowy, Hugo, Harry, Meg and a few others.
