10c shoes: Olway - no studs

QOC meet at Pohick Bay. Red course. Stopped raining just after I started so I was a bit overdressed. Lost time on 1 when there was a burr in my shorts just after starting. Annoying when running but hard to locate when I stopped. Could have been a good day with lots of trail running and not too much climb for Pohick. Going to 4 I realized that my compass was not spinning freely. Not to sure which way was north anymore. Continued in what I hoped was the right direction until I hit the trail I was hoping to find. Soon became obvious that it was not the trail I wanted and I did not know where I was. Just continued on it until I found an intersection I could recognize. Nowhere near where I wanted to be but just a long trail run around to come in by #1. A bit more conservative in my route choices from then on and only had problems on 8 and 9. 9 was basically the same long leg as 4 and I was pretty consistent. Came out on the wrong trail again, but this time I recognized it from before and could determine where I was. Not nearly as much time lost this time.

I am course setter for the next VA meet so needed to stay to get the controls. Pickup 10 controls - 2 water stops from middle part of the map. Time is just the part between the controls, not the time untying and packing.
