run (road) 50:29 [2] 5.15 mi (9:48 / mi)
weight:185lbs shoes: Saucony Grid Shadow

Back to the dealer to pick up the car. This time I only ran to GMU and then took the bus for the rest. Unfortunately I did not match the bus schedule very well and had to stand in occasional light sprinkles for 20 minutes. Measured by car on the way home at 4.9 + another 1/4 after I got off the bus.

Some blood in the urine after I got home. That can't be good.

Square dancing (basic) 20:00 [1]
shoes: Walmart - Puritan

At Boomerangs 7:30-9:30.

walk (road) 29:00 [1] 1.5 mi (19:20 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Shadow

Since I had no car, I also walked to work. Saw an owl sitting in a tree along Burke Center Pwky.

run (road) 1:51:01 [2] 10.0 mi (11:06 / mi)
weight:185lbs shoes: Avia

Took my car in to the dealer for some work and ran home. About 10:20 pm and temps in low 60s. Thought it was only about 8 miles but must have remembered the distance only back to my office. Measured in the car on way there as 9.7. Moved to an even 10 after there was a sidewalk detour due to construction near George Mason U. The detour went winding through GMU instead of the straight shot along Ox Rd.
Felt pretty bad at the start but ok after I warmed up a bit. Could have used a rest room for the last 3 miles and slow pace got even slower.

Event: QOC Patuxent

orienteering (Blue) 2:00:34 [3] *** 8.9 km (13:33 / km)
spiked:14/19c shoes: Olway - no studs

QOC Patuxent River Park. Blue course. Peggy set the courses. Ran blue since I am trying to get in a bit of training before UNO and the highlander. 9k is a long way for the non-training I have been doing. Ran reasonably well after losing 40s right at the start when I started without my compass and had to get it from the car while on the clock. Not very fast but ran most of the way until 15. Tried to take the field route to avoid going up and down thru the gullys, but the 2nd field was overgrown and very slow running. Felt a cramp coming on and headed back to the woods but got the cramp before I could make it out of the field. Lost 4 minutes before I could get moving again at a slower speed that previously. Nadim caught me at 18 when I got to the correct area but could not find the control in the green. I had been a bit off and relocated from the ditches but then did not see the control in the correct area. Looked like Nadim took the same initial route but relocated much better and led me into the bag.
Splits are posted.

Square dancing (plus, rounds) 35:00 [1]

At NACASDLA booster dance. 7-9:30 pm.

Square dancing (plus, rounds) 35:00 [1]
shoes: Walmart - Puritan

At Belair Square Cats. 7:30-10pm.

Thought about going to the 10k XC at Lake Needwood but did not feel like getting up in to time to get there. Then I couldn't get back to sleep anyway. Worked in the yard all morning instead. Still have a lot of overseeding to do in the grass.

run (trail, road) 41:42 [2] 4.5 mi (9:16 / mi)
weight:186.2lbs shoes: Saucony Grid Shadow

At Burke Lake:
If I plan to do the Highlander then I guess I will have to put in a few training sessions to get ready. Have gotten out of the habit of running and only did 1 or two easy runs a week all summer. Also got out of the habit of entering anything in the log. See it has been empty since mid May. Might get around to adding the missing stuff here someday. Weight is way up, got as high as 188.4 officially a few weeks ago and was over 190 unofficially.

disc golf 12:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Grid Shadow

Have not played much disc golf all year so was surprised I could still make par. Actually had a couple of easy birdies and only had par because of a double bogey when I hit a tree on consecutive throws. Played the first 6 holes twice.

Square dancing (basic) 30:00 [1]
shoes: Walmart - Puritan

At Boomerangs 7:30-9:30. New classes started 2 weeks ago and I am a class coordinator again with Bev. Wednesdays are booked for the next 45 weeks.

Sunday morning session. Only went about 45 minutes. Hardly worth getting out of bed.

other (body surfing) 35:00 [2]

The most strenuous exercise of the weekend. Got a body board and played in the surf with it and without it. Ran back into the waves each time to get as many rides as possible since Bev was toasting on the beach.

walk (beach) 30:00 [1] 1.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Walk with Bev along the beach.

Square dancing (rounds, plus) 2:00:00 [1]
shoes: Walmart - Puritan

At Chincoteaque. Round dance teaches in the morning, 10-12: phase 4 waltz, phase 4 foxtrot, phase 2 two-step. Skipped the afternoon square dance sessions to go to Choncoteaque National Wildlife area and look at birds and horses. After another dinner at Don's (fish and chips this time, looked like the same flounder as yesterday but only 1/2 the size) went to the evening dance session 7-11pm.

walk 40:00 [1] 1.6 mi (25:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Grid Shadow

Nature walk with Bev at Chicoteaque National Wildlife area. Recorded the time it would have taken if we walked normally. Took a lot longer since we stopped to look at horses, trees, signs, etc and sat on a bench and enjoyed being outside. This is as close to orienteering as Bev wants to get.

Friday Sep 18, 2009 #
