orienteering (memory) 2:21:56 [3] 9.1 km (15:36 / km) +375m 12:56 / km
weight:180lbs shoes: Integrator04-studs

QOC: Lake Accotink memory course blue. Map at each of the first 10 controls had a map with first 11 controls. Controls 11-19 had maps with 11-20 shown. Then in to finish and memorize the last 5 controls which had no maps at them. Helps to have run here before but I made some boneheaded mistakes. Either memorize the area near the control but neglect to note how many streams to cross on the way there or memorize a good route to an attackpoint then forget where the control was relative to the attackpoint.,
Biggest mistake was 15 where I chose a poor route and ended up on an unmapped trail and got lost. Had to bail out to a control I remembered from the first loop to relocate then got messed on up the unamapped trail again. Was heading back to the previous control when I stumbled upon it. 10k distance was over my current training level but I did manage to keep running and was happy to get the last 5 controls in a single pass.
Jon Torrance won in 79.

orienteering (pickup) 37:09 [1] 2.6 km (14:17 / km)
shoes: Integrator04-studs

Control pickup. Had gotten a cramp while waiting around so just walked the whole way. Had been to most of the controls earlier. This time I had a map.
