disc golf (practice) 13:00 [1] 0.6 mi (21:39 / mi)
(rest day) shoes: Walmart - Carson

Calves are stiff from yesterday but I wanted a break from work so popped over to Burke Lake. First 6 holes - 2 over after a double bogey on 5. Saw someone make a 100 foot birdie after his tee shot hit a tree and landed in the wrong fairway. He just heaved it up into the trees and it went in. I was so amazed, I threw my next shot into a tree.
Played the first 7holes again but did not keep score. Working on getting some more power off the tee which meant I was all over the place and getting lousy scores.

Square dancing (hex, triple) 30:00 [1]

run race (road race) 1:11:33 [4] 10.0 mi (7:09 / mi)
shoes: Addidas

RRC 10 Mile Challange. Howard Community College. Columbia MD 8am. I dislike these 8am starts in winter. Have to get up at 6 to get there in time to warm up and it is difficult to judge the temperature before the sun has had a chance to warm things.
DCRRC sent a team but not a very strong one as it looked like I might be a scoring member (top 12 men score) Howard County and Fall Road had their normal strong teams. Montgomery County sent a weak (for them) team but their depth can easily beat us.
As usual my recent training deficit did not suggest a good run on this hilly course. Planned to go out at 7 min pace and try for 70 but expected to fade and finish 72-74. Out a bit fast but hard to be sure since the course is uncertified and at least one of mile markers is way off so how can you trust the others. Hills also made it hard to keep an even pace. 6:34, 13:28, 7:11, 6:46,[34:00 at 5mi] 14:42, 7:51, 8:57, 6:04 Never really felt comfortable and was slowing by the 1/2 way point. Lost places steadily and finished well back in 188 (544 finishers)
Saw Pat Zerfas before the race. She was using it as a training run, planning to do around 70. She passed at around mile 7 just before my average pace went over 7.

In the team results DCRRC did not do so well finishing 6th. Beside HCS, FR, MCRRC, we were also beaten by RASAC and Baltimore. We usually beat Baltimore.

I did manage to beat both PG and PBrickers times from the Amherst 10mi but there was no snow or mud on my course so their race might have been a bit harder.

run warm up/down (road) 4:00 [1] 0.4 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Addidas

Warmup before the race. Just enough to get a feel for the temperature and then head off to the restroom line.

walk (road) 25:00 [1] 2.0 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Walmart - Carson

Would have liked to go to Prince William for QOC orienteering but a long drive and I would have been to tired to do much so skipped it and spent the afternoon with Bev.
Walked one loop of Fort Hunt.

calisthenics (ups) 55 [3]

15 pushups, 20 situps, 20 back This gets dull pretty fast. How does JJ stick with it?

Note

Square dancing tonight was canceled due to yet another over-reaction to some wintery precipitation. A bit of ice in the morning and then rain during the day.

Burke Lake. Supposed to be a winter warning starting at 10 am but still no snow by 2pm. (9:20), 9:23, 8:35, 8:45, (4:44)

disc golf (practice) 13:00 [1] 0.6 mi (21:39 / mi)
shoes: Avia

Another bad day on the course. Having trouble with my release and the disc goes right when I need left and left when I need right. 2 over for the first 6 holes. Not satisfied, I did the 6 holes a second time since I usually get a feel for the disc and throw better. Not today - finally got a perfect drive and then missed an easy birdie putt, then missed the par putt as well. Finished 2 over again. Still not satisfied;I did the 7th hole, an easy par 4. Hit a tree off the tee and got an easy 4. Still not satisfied; I went back to work and hoped for better next time.
